Lend a Hand with AHEAD With Horse’s Saturday Volunteer Program

AHEAD with Horses is having a short orientation every Saturday morning at 8:45am in Shadow Hills. Volunteers must be at least 12 to volunteer. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany you to sign some paperwork. Closed-toe shoes (should be comfortable because there is a lot of walking), a shirt with sleeves (T-shirts are fine; No tank tops) and long pants are required. If you're planning to stay for the entire day (till approx. 2 - 2:30pm) then please bring water and a sack lunch/snack. Other days and times available for volunteering will be given at the orientation. They normally have volunteers assist the instructor with the children and horses, which includes, leading horses and spotting, which is walking alongside the horse to ensure child’s safety and position changes on the horse. Other activities might include: grooming horses, cleaning tack, gardening (raking, weeding, etc.), mailings, etc. Please contact the office if you are interested in these days or check their Facebook page (AHEAD With Horses Inc). Have Fun Plogging and Cleaning Debs Park

Join Audubon Center at Debs Park where volunteers will be plogging (running and picking up trash) along a 5-mile stretch along Griffin Ave the Arroyo Seco and in Debs Park. Fun fact: Plogging is a fitness craze from Sweden that is quickly gaining popularity in the US. The term combines the word “jogging” with the Swedish term “plocka upp”, which means to pick up. The run will start and end in Audubon Center courtyard. The specific route with distances of up to 5 miles in length along Griffin Ave through the North Gate entrance will be provided at the start of the run. Trash drop off points will be at all trail intersections and at the Audubon center.
