Assist Unsheltered Population with Accessing Mobile Showers with St. James Episcopal Church

At St. James Episcopal Church, assist our unsheltered population in Mid-City with accessing mobile shower stations provided by Shower of Hope, grab & go meals, and donated clothing. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are seeking sanitation, meals, and clothing. Your efforts will help provide them with these necessities. Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Cleaning: Setting up chairs, sanitizing/wiping them down, picking up trash, cleaning the area. Hallway attendant/monitors bathrooms: Make sure that the area will be secure due to the donation room & kitchen. Hand out ready-made meals. Select clothing from the donation closet in the Church. At the End/Breakdown: throw away the garbage & taking them to the dumpster. If anyone uses the kitchen, wipe down the area & bathroom. Requirements: Volunteers will social distance by keeping 6ft from each other. All personal protective equipment, sanitation, and sanitizing materials are provided. Have Fun and Trot Around for Celiac Disease Foundation

The Celiac Disease Foundation's Turkey Trot raises funds to support celiac disease research, and this year they are going virtual with a Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge. 100% of the proceeds go to fund celiac disease research. Bring your pet and join them for tons of fun & gluten-free prizes! Each registrant will receive a Turkey Trot t-shirt, bandana, one FREE product coupon from CDF Proud Sponsor Crunchmaster, fundraising page, access to a private CDF Turkey Trot Facebook Group to connect with other participants, and more. Assemble Hygiene Kits at Home with Resisterhood LA

ResisterHood LA's 4th annual menstrual FLOWvember period kit party is going virtual! Period products are one of the most requested but least donated items for people experiencing homelessness. For their 4th annual menstrual FLOWvember event, they're raising money to build 2000 hygiene kits with a special focus on period poverty. Join them online on Sunday, November 15th to build hygiene kits, write notes of encouragement for recipients, and hear from speakers about how everyone can can advocate for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.Volunteers will pick-up supplies via no-contact drive-thru and build their hygiene kits at home while participating in their online FLOWvember event! The completed kits will go to NoHo Home Alliance, LA Community Action Network (LA CAN), and Los Angeles Community Fridges. LA County Teen Challenge is Collecting new women's toiletries and items for gift bags: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razors, women's deodorant, qtips, cotton balls, lip balm, body lotion, face lotion, scented body lotion/sprays, etc.; and women's slippers, bath robes, gloves, scarves, beanies, and non-perishable Christmas/Holiday dinner food items and non-alcoholic drinks. Because of Covid-19, they are unable to invite you inside the center at this time. Drop offs are encouraged and appreciated.
