Scout Fitness Trails for People in Recovery

Scout running, biking, and hiking trails for people in recovery with The Phoenix! The Phoenix?۪s mission is to build an active sober community that fuels resilience and harnesses the transformational power of connection so that together we rise, recover, and live. Your work in scouting running, hiking, and biking trails across Los Angeles will help provide people striving for sobriety to have a healthy stress and energy release. Plus you'll get a great workout in the process, too! Is there a hike you've been wanting to try? An awesome stretch of street for bikes LA needs to know about? Manage Volunteers Who Scout Trails for People in Recovery

Manage volunteers who scout outdoor running, biking, and hiking trails for The Phoenix! The Phoenix believes in fitness as a tool of recovery. You will oversee volunteers who seek out and scout outdoor trails to be utilized by The Phoenix members. This opportunity is great for volunteers who are passionate about fitness, sobriety, recovery from substance abuse, the outdoors, or healing in community! As the Project Leader, you'll be responsible for confirming and following up with volunteer scouts, sharing trail checklists with volunteers, answering any questions from pespective volunteers, managing all communication between volunteers, The Phoenix, and L.A. Works, and checking out a trail or two yourself! Since you'll be managing volunteers remotely, you can do it whenever your schedule allows. The time commitment is estimated to be no more than 4 hours a week. Requirments include attending an L.A. Adopt-a-House and Spread Christmas Cheer to Those in Need

Grandmas House of Hope needs volunteers. They are looking for individuals or groups to Adopt-A-House and provide holiday gifts for the men and women living in our Rescued & Restored Housing program. These men and women could use some pampering, love and hope this Christmas! Many of these men and women have severe illnesses or other outside issues that make them a perfect candidate to receive some pampering, love and hope this Christmas. Volunteers who sign up will receive their clients wish lists and drop off instructions. GHH has 4 men?۪s shelters and 9 women?۪s shelter. They will have Wish Lists from each client for you to adopt. (wish lists available after November 16th). Buy them something warm, something yummy, and something personal! (TOTAL price range is $50-$75). Help them create a joyous holiday for the invisible population that they serve.

These volunteer shifts are an integral part of maintaining an efficient and successful kitchen and meal program.Union Rescue Mission are looking for Volunteers to help our staff prepare meals at their Family Center (825 E. Orange Grove Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91104) and Adult Center (412 S.Raymond Ave. Pasadena CA 91105).Please note that there is an age requirement for volunteering in the kitchen. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed in the kitchen at any time. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old with a chaperone, 16 to volunteer without. We ask that you please wear closed toed shoes and long pants for your safety and protection. If interested or if you have any further questions, please email us at volunteer@unionstaionhs.org to check availability. **Volunteers will be required to wear a surgical grade mask or higher (not cloth). You play a crucial role in the Red Cross mission. With your help, the Red Cross can succeed in providing lifesaving blood to cancer and transplant patients, premature babies, accident victims and others who need blood. The Role of Blood Donor Ambassador is to provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service and enhance the donor experience. Each blood donor deserves to be treated as an honored guest! Engage with donors to make the donation experience fulfilling and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations. Must be at least 18 years old and commit to at least one, 6-hour shift per month. 1 hour training prior to first shift.

This year, Union Station Homeless Services is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of Dinner in the Park, the incredible community event that has provided thousands of holiday meals and hope for our homeless and hungry community members, including homeless men, women, children, seniors, and very low-income families. Due to this year?۪s unique circumstances, Dinner in the Park will be different, but just as impactful. One way you can support Dinner in the Park is by donating and sponsoring their many programs this year. They need supplies for at-home meal kits as well as to-go meal kits. AHEAD With Horses is devoted to improving the quality of life of disabled, disadvantaged, and special needs children through equine therapy using vaulting also known as gymnastics on a horse. This year they are asking for donations to their program so they can continue taking care of their horses that provide such incredbile therapy for children. They have launched a social media challenge called #PoseForAPurpose where you take a photo of yourself making a vaulting pose and challenge your friends and family to do the same, and/or donate to AHEAD with Horses! Create Hygiene Kits with Project Ropa!

Project Ropa is looking for assistance in creating hygiene kits to distribute to our unhoused neighbors. This can be done remotely by putting together items in a ziploc bag, tote bag or reusable grocery bag. Please note: Items for the hygiene kits will not be provided by us. We recommend reaching out to your network of friends and family to source the items. All items can be travel-size or full-size. Below are items that would be good to include in the kits: Shampoo Conditioner Soap Body lotion Shaving cream Razor Deodorant Q-Tips Band-Aids Hand sanitizer Disinfecting wipes Travel-size facial tissue pack Toilet paper Lip balm Sunscreen Dental floss Hair bands Toothpaste and toothbrush. Collect and Donate New and Gently Used Clothes for Project Ropa

Project Ropa is looking for assistance in collecting clothing to distribute to our unhoused neighbors. They are looking for assistance with collecting hygiene products and new and gently used clothing men's clothing donations to distribute to our unhoused neighbors. Items they are seeking include: men's jeans, shorts and cargo pants, men's sneakers, sandals and work boots men's shirts, jackets and sweaters (especially XL+), women's jeans (sizes 12 and up), underwear and socks (new only), backpacks, tote bags, handbags, ball caps, belts, hygiene products (travel-size and full size). Help Package Food Boxes

Help package food boxes for Union Rescue Mission. These boxes are being delivered to their clients temporarily living in motels across the San Gabriel Valley as well as to our individuals and families in our permanent supportive housing facilities. Starting November 1st, every Monday through Friday from 9am - 12pm, you can sign up for this 3 hour shift in helping pack these food boxes.

Grandmas House of Hope has been very busy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been handing out food on behalf of their Nanas Kidz Families program, and they need drivers.This volunteer would need to be able to drive their own vehicle thats able to hold 200 Nana's Kidz bags (SUV or small truck works best), and be 26 years or older. They reccomend workiking with 1 - 2 people. This opportunity is weekly on Thursday between 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm - Drop off only. Pick up 200 bags at GHH Garden Grove Donation Center and drop off 950 W Highland St, Santa Ana, CA 92703

Teach Computer Skills to Low Income Families

More kids are online schooling than ever, but not all guardians know how to help them with tech issues. Give Spanish-speaking guardians the tech-smarts they need to ensure their kids?۪ success. Aviva Famiy and Children's Services exists to uplift and serve LA families, especially during the hardships of the COVID-19 crisis. They specialize in services like crisis intervention, mental health, foster and adoption, and supportive housing for women and children. A big part of the achievement gap for Latinx students is lack of access to technology. If there are tech challenges, the child whose parent can help them navigate those is going to surpass the child whose parent cannot. You can help close the achievement gap for Latinx students by teaching Spanish-speaking guardians basic computer skills. In this virtual volunteer opportunity, you will assist Spanish-speaking parents with basic computer skills. A lesson will be instructed by the Project Leader, and then you?۪ll break out into small groups to mentor your partner(s) as they complete different activities. The whole group will then reassemble to discuss their experiences. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Must be 21+ years old, Spanish-speaking ability required and Must be comfortable using internet, email, google suite, and social media.
