Come Volunteer as a Holiday Caroling Stroller at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley

Come spread some holiday cheer to the patients at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley . Volunteers are needed for 1 hour to stroll through the hallways and sing Christmas carols to the patients in the hospital. Time is 10:00-11:00. Dress festive! Help at a Holiday Extravaganza for Homeless Kids

Nu Skool Sings Old School will proudly present their Annual Holiday Extravaganza. For the past 14 years, they have hosted the Holiday Extravaganza for the inner-city kids that they serve all year around. Mini Concert by Nu Skool Sings Old School Star Performers & Kids Holiday Fashion Show, Celebrity Guests Presentations, Dancing, Games, Fun Raffles, Refreshments, Photo Shoots and Much More. And of course, Their Famous Toy & Gift Giveaway Party! They serve children living on the streets, in hotels or temporary housing. They also serve the children of former foster girls, children living with low income grandparents or other relatives and families in crisis. Now they are preparing to serve 100 kids this year. Most of their children must be bussed in from different areas throughout the city. Nu Skool Sings Old School Star Performers will distribute toys and gifts to the invited inner city children and also pose for picture with them on the Red Carpet. They have also invited some Celebrity Guests to come out and help them make this holiday season a memorable experience for some amazing kids! Nu Skool need toys and gifts for young children ages 3 to 13 years old. They also need fun gifts for teenagers ages 14 to 16 years old. They would deeply appreciate any warm clothing items, such as: blankets, sleeping bags, jackets, coats or sock for their homeless kids who often live on the streets.

Read Aloud to Children with Reading to Kids

Do you like holiday stories? Reading to Kids organizes monthly reading clubs on the second Saturday of every month at eight downtown Los Angeles elementary schools. The reading clubs run from 9 am - 12 pm. Pairs of volunteer readers read aloud to small groups of students from the elementary school (typically between 4 and 6 children per group) in a fun environment. Teachers at the elementary school provide supervision and guidance throughout the morning. Please visit http://www.readingtokids.org where you'll need to register and RSVP. Every year Fred Jordan hosts Thanksgiving on the Streets on Skid Row. They bring out the very best musicians and guest speaker. The day begins with praise and worship provided by outstanding musicians, followed by a simple presentation of the gospel by pastors, then dinner is served. Take a Shopping Trip with a Senior at Aleandria House

Alexandria Care Center is a skilled nursing facility that provides both short-term rehabilitation to get elderly clients healthy and back home and long-term care for those requiring 24-hour assistance. Volunteer Project: The elderly clients at Alexandria Care Center don't always have the chance to get out of their rooms very much. To boost their spirits and get some fresh air, they're offered a weekend excursion to the neighborhood 99 Cent Store! Shopping for great deals is one of their monthly highlights! Come provide a much needed shopping trip along with great companionship, lively talk and needed sunshine. Special Note: Volunteers are asked to help transport seniors to the 99 Cent store by pushing them in wheelchairs approximately 8 blocks round trip. If you feel that you may not physically be able to do this, please email the Project Leader below before signing up to see if alternative arrangements can be made. Bilingual (Spanish, Armenian, Korean, or Tagalog & English) skills are helpful. Age Requirement: Volunteers for this project must be at least 13 years of age. Minors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. Volunteers under 16 years of age will also need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Join the Self Help Graphics & Art with their Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Self Help Graphics & Art will host its annual Dia de los Muertos celebration at Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez High School. The celebration's participants take part in a public procession where life size Calaveras, personal and family items, are carried to a large Community Altar that honors deceased family members. The procession and traditional blessing kicks off a festive Dia de los Muertos celebration with arts, craft and food vendors, musical performances, face painting, and children's art workshops. Over 7,000 guests enjoy a community gathering that celebrates community, life and death. positions will include general set up and break down, t-shirt/print/beverage sales, acting as ushers, donation hosts, greeters, managers, and entertainment wranglers, altar monitors, stage/performance liaison, Photobooth photographers/donation hosts, face painters, kids corner, Pan de Muerto sales, Vendor Load in and inspection, and volunteer check-in. PLEASE NOTE: All Main Celebration volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation leading up to the event. Date/Time TBD. Take Part in Big Sunday’s Annual Holiday Party & Sing-along

This is one of our favorite events of the year! Each December people from all walks of life join us to eat, sing (with a live band!) and enjoy the holidays during Big Sundays Annual Holiday Party & Sing-along. Special guests have included low-income seniors, kids with challenges, women and children from a domestic violence shelter, vets and others who needed a little extra TLC at the holidays. Join us Dec. 9 from 3 - 5 pm! We'll also be collecting toys for kids, food for hungry families and winter coats too! Donations can be dropped off Nov. 1 - Dec. 9 at 3 pm when the party kicks off!
