Sing with Seniors at Big Sunday’s Beverly Carmel Holiday Sing-along

You don't have to be Jewish to join Big Sunday as we host a holiday sing-a-long for (and with!) seniors in Beverly Hills on the 5th night of Hanukkah. Mix and mingle, sing and schmooze, while bringing a bit of festivity and joy to some lively, friendly and fun-loving seniors. (And, truth be told, they'd bring some festivity and joy to you, too!)

Help with Holiday Meals with Volunteer Actions for Aging

Put the Give In Thanksgiving with Volunteer Actions for Aging. They are looking for kind and caring volunteers for a variety of tasks on Thanksgiving morning. They need drivers to come to their SCAN Headquarters in Long Beach, pick up meals and delivery instructions for seniors who have requested meals and then deliver them to the seniors in their house or apartments in many cities in Los Angeles County. You pick the distance and the number of meals you would like to deliver. They ask for a minimum of 10 miles and 3 locations as they serve seniors spread out over the County. The time commitment is small, approximately 2 hours between 10am-noon. Many volunteers load up their family members, kids, friends and pets in the car to make the deliveries. They are also in need of standby volunteers to fill in for delivery folks who cant make it at the last minute. In addition they need volunteers at their HQ to help with the meal packing, distribution and paperwork. To join them on that day, please sign up soon.

Take a Shopping Trip with a Senior at Aleandria House

Alexandria Care Center is a skilled nursing facility that provides both short-term rehabilitation to get elderly clients healthy and back home and long-term care for those requiring 24-hour assistance. Volunteer Project: The elderly clients at Alexandria Care Center don't always have the chance to get out of their rooms very much. Special Note: Volunteers are asked to help transport seniors to the 99 Cent store by pushing them in wheelchairs approximately 8 blocks round trip. If you feel that you may not physically be able to do this, please email the Project Leader below before signing up to see if alternative arrangements can be made. Bilingual (Spanish, Armenian, Korean, or Tagalog & English) skills are helpful. Age Requirement: Volunteers for this project must be at least 13 years of age. Minors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors.
