Become a Certified Advocate with the East Los Angeles Women’s Center
Volunteer-advocates provide crisis intervention, advocacy, education, and referrals to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and those impacted by homelessness. They answer crisis calls on ELAWC’s 24 hour Crisis Hotline and respond in person to hospitals, police stations, and the court to provide one-on-one support to survivors and significant others. The mission of ELAWC is to ensure that all women, men, adolescents, and their families, live in a place of safety, health, and personal well-being, free from violence and abuse with equal access to necessary health services and social support. ELAWC is a beacon of hope, a lifeline, and a public voice for thousands of women, men, and families whose lives are shattered by DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL VIOLENCE, HUMAN TRAFFICKING or HIV/AIDS.
Every year ELAWC provides, toys, books, gift cards and clothing to their participants in need, in person.Any donation is greatly appreciated, No age limits. Also, please don't forget about their teens :) Thank you and happy holidays!

Con Los Padres Fatherhood Program

Previously held biweekly as “2W@10,” these special events are held from 10:00am – 11:30am each Wednesday where we do fun activities to help local nonprofits. And what’s extra special about these Wednesday events? Our guests of honor are wonderful and fun volunteers with some developmental challenges who want to give back and help others, in groups and as individuals. The accessible activities we’ll do on Wednesdays are specifically designed with these guests in mind, so that everyone can participate and have fun volunteering – because we believe very strongly that absolutely everyone has something to give. TM@10 (Thursday Morning @ 10) is not only one of our favorite programs, but it’s one of our most popular, too! We meet every Thursday morning, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. And we host hands-on projects to help local nonprofits. At TM@10 we’ve assembled birthday gifts for folks in shelters; written letters to soldiers stationed overseas; packed backpacks for ex-gang members starting college; made quilts for preemies; and about 1000 other things. Even better – and in classic Big Sunday fashion – it’s a great way for people to meet new people, work together, and enjoy some laughs while helping someone else. Each year we collect and pack big bags full of Thanksgiving dinner for thousands of people! We need folks to donate food, as well as pack everythingup and distribute it. And yes, everyone is invited to join together for a community breakfast, too! A true festival of gratitude. We also need folks to lead food collections in their community!
