Prepare and Set-Up Weekend Brunch Meals with Union Rescue Mission

URM will now have a special Weekend Brunch Meal for residents. Breakfast and Lunch will now be combined from 10-12PM on the weekends. The Sunrise Set Up is a great opportunity for Volunteers that are willing and able to provide support in the Union Rescue Mission kitchen. This includes preparing and setting up for weekend Brunch. This opportunity / shift has a strong ephasis on food preparation and doesn't include much interaction with residents. Prepping and set up only.

Welcome & Support Day Center Participants at Downtown Women’s Center

The Day Center is the point of entry for women and gender-diverse individuals coming through Downtown Women's Center’s doors: it provides access to three meals a day; clean bathrooms and showers, changes of clothes, an address for individuals to receive mail, case management; and medical services. Day Center volunteers support the Day Center team by welcoming participants; helping distribute donations, mail, toiletry items, and meals; participating in and/or leading enrichment activities; and helping create a safe, welcoming space for the individuals receiving services in their community. Must be 18 or older.

Become a Long-Term Volunteer with the Bolsa Chica Conservancy

Looking to learn new things, give back to your community, and have fun? This 3-hour orientation will discuss Bolsa Chica Conservancy programs and volunteer options, local natural and human history, and wetland ecology. About half the training will take place along the trails, so please come prepared with water, sun protection, and close-toed shoes.

Explore the Outdoors with a Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove with Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy

Join PVPLC at Abalone Cove Reserve for their Outdoor Volunteer Day! You will be planting native plants and/or removing invasive weeds in order to improve habitat for protected wildlife species. Please do not arrive before 9AM, the parking lot does not open until 9 AM.This event will meet at 9:15 AM in the parking lot next to the parking booth of Abalone Cove Reserve: 5970 Palos Verdes Dr. South, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Please arrive on time. You often work at a different location than the meetup point, so they can’t guarantee you’ll be able to participate if you are not there at the start time. You will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection, bug spray and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. A reusable water bottle is recommended. Long pants and a long-sleeved shirt are recommended. Activity level: mild to moderate. Please be prepared for mildly strenuous hiking to reach volunteer locations. All volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign and complete their release before they can volunteer. Volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

Kitchen volunteers help with meal preparation (e.g. chopping and measuring); help keep the kitchen clean and organized (e.g. wiping counters, organizing the food pantry and cabinets); and serve delicious meals to participants. Kitchen volunteering is a great fit for volunteers who like working in a team while also interacting with DWC participants. Volunteers must be 18 or older.

They have volunteer shifts available on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10am-1pm. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Witness Firsthand the Feeding Behavior of California Native Animals with the Bolsa Chica Conservancy

Join the Bolsa Chica Conservancy at their weekly Animal Feeding Presentation to witness firsthand the feeding behavior of California native animals! If you're looking to get out of the house and learn about local animals, join them in person for their weekly live animal feeding! You will be able to learn more about the animals at their Interpretive Center, including snakes, sharks, crabs, and much more! During the feeding, they will cover topics like feeding habits and the general biology and anatomy of their reptiles and marine animals!

Prep Meals with Hollywood Food Coalition

The Community Dinner serves unhoused and food insecure individuals in Hollywood. Hollywood Food Coalition use fresh and recycled food from all over LA to prepare a hot, delicious meal 7 days a week. Their Meal Prep shift utilizes volunteers to prepare for their dinner service. They serve anywhere from 150 to 350 meals a night. Their daily meal preparation is "creative cooking" -- you'll see what has been donated that day and from those ingredients create their meal -- no recipes included. Kitchen leads will be there to guide and support you throughout the shift.

Help Serve Meals All Week at the Community Dinner with Hollywood Food Coalition

Hollywood Food Coalition’s Community Dinner is their signature and longest-running program. They serve nightly to anyone in need of a hot, nutritious meal. Their consistency builds trust with their guests, which helps connect them with further services. The Meal Service Shift begins at 5:30 pm in the kitchen at their Community Dinner program. They pack and serve their to-go meals at the kitchen every Monday through Friday. Kitchen leads will be there to guide and support you throughout the shift.Consider helping out with their Community Dinners on Mondays through Friday! Kids 10+ are welcome with adult accompaniment.
