Pack and Deliver Food to Shut-Ins with Long Beach Community Table

Help feed our neighbors in need! Join a team of 25-30 volunteers to fill grocery bags with fresh produce and nutritious food, then deliver to 6-8 addresses with a single Zip Code or area. The more people they have to help, the faster and easier it goes! Each week, the Homebound Team serves nearly 300 households including 900+ seniors, immune-compromised residents, and financially distressed families throughout the greater Long Beach/Lakewood area, without the means to shop for groceries during the COVID-19 pandemic. Physical distancing procedures observed; bring your own mask and wear sturdy shoes. A brief orientation, gloves and sanitation stations provided. This opportunity is ongoing every Sunday evening. Must be at least 14. Vehicle required for deliveries, or just come to help pack and clean up.

Manage Volunteers Who Scout Trails for People in Recovery

Manage volunteers who scout outdoor running, biking, and hiking trails for The Phoenix! The Phoenix believes in fitness as a tool of recovery. You will oversee volunteers who seek out and scout outdoor trails to be utilized by The Phoenix members. This opportunity is great for volunteers who are passionate about fitness, sobriety, recovery from substance abuse, the outdoors, or healing in community! As the Project Leader, you'll be responsible for confirming and following up with volunteer scouts, sharing trail checklists with volunteers, answering any questions from pespective volunteers, managing all communication between volunteers, The Phoenix, and L.A. Works, and checking out a trail or two yourself! Since you'll be managing volunteers remotely, you can do it whenever your schedule allows. The time commitment is estimated to be no more than 4 hours a week. Requirments include attending an L.A. Adopt-a-House and Spread Christmas Cheer to Those in Need

Grandmas House of Hope needs volunteers. They are looking for individuals or groups to Adopt-A-House and provide holiday gifts for the men and women living in our Rescued & Restored Housing program. These men and women could use some pampering, love and hope this Christmas! Many of these men and women have severe illnesses or other outside issues that make them a perfect candidate to receive some pampering, love and hope this Christmas. Volunteers who sign up will receive their clients wish lists and drop off instructions. GHH has 4 men?۪s shelters and 9 women?۪s shelter. They will have Wish Lists from each client for you to adopt. (wish lists available after November 16th). Buy them something warm, something yummy, and something personal! (TOTAL price range is $50-$75). Help them create a joyous holiday for the invisible population that they serve.

Orange Grove Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91104) and Adult Center (412 S.Raymond Ave. Pasadena CA 91105).Please note that there is an age requirement for volunteering in the kitchen. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed in the kitchen at any time. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old with a chaperone, 16 to volunteer without. We ask that you please wear closed toed shoes and long pants for your safety and protection. Become a Land Caretaker with PVPLC

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is committed to preserving undeveloped land for the education and enjoyment of everyone. During these uncertain times, the adopt-a-plot program allows volunteers to complete or contribute to habitat restoration projects independently and on your own schedule under their guidance. Each location offers a different experience. Volunteers can consider the options and select the one that meets your interests. They are asking volunteers commit to this program for at least one year to ensure that new plants survive the arid, dry conditions. You only need to help at a minimum of 1x per month but, biweekly and weekly stewardship visits are encouraged. Bring the Joy of Holidays by Packing Shoeboxes for Youth

Since 1993, Samaritan?۪s Purse Operation Christmas Child has delivered over 150 millions gift-filled shoeboxes to underprivileged children around the world. In light of Covid-19, GLA Shoebox Packing Party will look different this year. They are hosting a month long boutique style and social distancing packing party to achieve the goal of 2020 shoeboxes. The dates are 11/01 to 11/23, Saturday and Sunday only. Time varies. At the same time, you may also sign up to help them at drop off locations in both Highland Park and Glendale from 11/16-11/23. Reservation is a must. Limited participants will allow in the venue at one time and local CDC guidelines will be followed. Age 10 and up are welcome. Students can request volunteer hours if needed. Packing Party will be hosted at a venue in Highland Park in Los Angeles. You will receive location information when they confirm your reservation. They encourage all participants to bring some gift items for the shoeboxes. Serve Meals to Seniors with Moving Forward

Operation #MovingForwardTogether is a program organized by MovingForwardTogether Coalition to provide hot culturely diverse meals to isolated seniors and individuals unemployed due to Covid-19. This operation is 100% volunteer based and funded by private donations and sponsorship. They distribute and deliver on average 500-600 hot meals at each event to 15 different cities in Orange County, CA. They welcome volunteers to help with onsite distribution, as well as delivery of hot meals to home-bound seniors. Project Ropa is looking for assistance in creating hygiene kits to distribute to our unhoused neighbors. This can be done remotely by putting together items in a ziploc bag, tote bag or reusable grocery bag. Please note: Items for the hygiene kits will not be provided by us. We recommend reaching out to your network of friends and family to source the items. All items can be travel-size or full-size.
