Bring the Fun in Fundraise for Miry’s List’s Gratitude Gala

Over 68 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their homes due to violence or persecution. Each Novemberember, Miry's List, a nonprofit organization serving over 350 families who have recently resettled in America, recognizes leaders who have been impactful in making Los Angeles a more welcoming city for immigrants. On Novemberember 18 they have their Gratitude Gala hosted by Jenna Fischer, Honoring Chef Roy Choi, and awards presented by Evan Kleiman. They will serve Syrian-Californian Thanksgiving dinner and recognize leaders who have helped make their city a more welcoming for families resettling as refugees. Miry's List does not need volunteers for this event but they do need volunteers to help them fundraise for this beautiful event. They are looking for: Event sponsors to help them cover the costs of their event, Donations for gift bags for guests, Donation of thank you gifts for speakers and volunteers, Donation of printing services, Donation of audio/visual services, Alcohol sponsors, and Donation of hotel rooms our new arrival guests coming from outside LA for the event. Serve a Community Meal this Holiday Season

LA Family Housing serves over 6,000 homeless people every year. This year, give the gift of a full stomach by helping them provide hearty meals for single adults living in their Supportive Housing buildings. Sponsor the meal, bring friends and host a dinner between Novemberember 18th – 22nd. Guest count varies by location and must be 16 and over, please contact them for more information. Serve Breakfast to the Homeless with St. Francis Center

Serve Breakfast to the HomelessSince 1972, St. Francis Center has provided relief and support to homeless and extremely low-income individuals and families in Los Angeles. Much more than a soup kitchen or a food pantry, they offer a unique range of services to sustain and empower those in need. Welcoming all with joy, dignity and compassion, they dedicate every day to Serving Hope in their community Event Description: This Breakfast program is part of their Homeless Well-Being Program. Their homeless and near-homeless brothers and sisters are welcome to join them for breakfast Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 am and Mondays from 7:15 - 8:15 AM! They serve between 200 and 300 men and women each day. Help serve a hot breakfast meal in the morning before school or work for their guests experiencing homelessness. Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Volunteers will help staff with set-up for serve, and clean-up after breakfast. Breakfast service tasks include serving coffee, working in the kitchen, cleaning tables, resetting tables, and offering a smile. Requirements: Wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing. Time Commitment: Volunteers are needed from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Age Restrictions: They are happy to host volunteers ages 8+ (parent/guardian supervision required for volunteers ages 8-13). Help this Thanksgiving by Packing Shoeboxes for Youth

Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child has delivered over 150 millions gift-filled shoeboxes to underprivileged children around the world. This event benefits Operation Christmas Child, a non-profit organization that brings gift-filled shoeboxes to underprivileged children around the world. Many of these children are the first time receiving new gifts for themselves and these gifts let them know that they are loved and not forgotten. This their 8th annual shoebox packing party and they are planning to pack 1000-1500 shoebox gifts for boys and girls between 5-14 years old. Volunteers must be 12 years and up for the morning shift where there will be moving of boxes, volunteers 7 years and up can join the packing party shift in the afternoon. Three volunteer shifts: 11/22 (Friday) - 6pm-9pm - unload boxes and set up tables, 11/23 (Sat) - 8am-12pm - Sort items and organize the venue, and 11/23 (Sat) - 11 30am - 4pm - Manage tables, pack shoe boxes and cartons. They also encourage those who come to the event to bring couple of donation items, the more items they have, the more shoeboxes they can pack and the more children will benefit. Show Some Love with Pico Union Project

Dedicated to the Jewish principle to “love your neighbor as yourself”, the Pico Union Project is a multi-faith cultural arts center that strives to invigorate the community of Los Angeles by bringing diverse cultures together through song, story, art and activism. Give back and join for a late afternoon of fun, music, community and FREE Turkeys. They ask folks to bring refillable water bottles, comfortable clothes and shoes. Street parking.
