Help Distribute Thanksgiving Meals with Heart of Compassion Distribution
With the joyous season of holidays upon us, Heart of Compassion knows there are many families in need who need a helping hand in these difficult times. They will be hosting a Thanksgiving Turkey & Food Drive Giveaway to help more than 1,000 families put a nice Thanksgiving meal on their table this year. This event will include live music, djs, and many giveaways. This will be a drive-thru event, due to COVID precautions. Recipients will be able to stay in their vehicles and drive through the parking lot and volunteers will help load groceries and Thanksgiving fixings into waiting vehicles. As this will be a much larger event than their weekly public food distributions, they will need many more volunteers than other events they host. Feel free to invite friends and family members to join as volunteers! Due to safety concerns, they require volunteers to be at least 13 years old (and accompanied by an adult if they are minors.)
Serve Thanksgiving Meal with CityHeART
This is CityHeART's annual Thanksgiving meal for the homeless and formerly homeless community in Long Beach. Each year, they serve between 450-600 children, families, seniors, and veterans at this event. The meal service takes place on site at the Villages at Cabrillo on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and all volunteers and/or donations to support this event are welcome!
Serve Holiday Meals and Distribute Gifts with New Directions for Veterans
Annual holiday dinner and holiday celebration for the veterans living in their main facility on the VA Campus. Volunteers are needed to serve dinner and distribute holiday gifts to the veterans and those veterans that have children. Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Personal protective wear will be distributed to all volunteers and Covid-19 safety protocols will be enforced.
