For the 5th straight year, Pico Union will be opening their doors and their hearts to the community in an afternoon event that will include magic, food, games, art projects and live music from the band Mostly Kosher and others. They are guaranteeing the giveaway of 500 turkeys, but their aim is close to 800 this year. The Pico Union Project is a multi-faith, multicultural center housed in the 1909 original home of Sinai Temple. They have volunteer opportunities all day. They will have bounce houses, magicians, face painters, live music and a whole lot of turkeys and produce to give away. The Illumination Foundation Recuperative Care Center is a 24-hour shelter for homeless adults recovering from acute medical conditions. Clients look forward to having groups host a meal service, especially around the holidays. they ask for the group hosting the meal service to provide the food, utensils and paperware for the event and prepare to feed ~ 50 Adults. Meals can be hosted any day of the week, including weekends, and usually takes place between 4:30 pm _ 7:30 pm but times can be flexible. Groups can also bring board games, art activities, and plan workshops, anything that give their clients a fun and positive experience. No children under the age of 18 allowed at this center. Preferred Thanksgiving Dates: 12/21/18, 12/22/18, 12/23/18, 12/24/18, or 12/25/18
