Available tasks are based on production needs which may include quality controlling Battalion Buddies, quality controlling and/or bagging Paracord Bracelets, and assembling Greeting Card Brigade packets and handwritten letters. Volunteers ages 13 years and older are welcome to serve at The FOB. When you craft a paracord lanyard, you are providing a service member or first responder with a tangible and lasting expression of your gratitude and a symbol of the appreciation of grateful Americans everywhere.When your lanyards arrive at their facility, they will attach a carabiner that can be clipped onto almost anything to keep it within reach should an emergency arise. They include lanyards in their Care Packages because they’re both functional and meaningful, as they are handmade by Americans who want to show their appreciation to the Military and first responders. Their orientation covers a brief history of their organization, volunteer guidelines, arrival instructions, and more. Their age requirement requires volunteers to be at least 13 years old to volunteer with a chaperone, and at least 16 years old to volunteer without one. Become a Community Ally at Union Station Homeless Services

The purpose of our Community Allies Program is to support their neighbors as they transition into housing. By fostering one-on-one relationships and social networks, they hope to combat isolation to support wellness and housing stability. This year, despite the challenges of the pandemic, Community Allies continued to change lives. The program kept residents in their supportive housing programs connected in small in-person groups and virtually. Activities included book club, picnics in the park, yoga, and more. Volunteers must be at least 25 years old; Complete program orientation and training (and supplemental trainings); Complete a LiveScan State and Federal background check; Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination; Commit to the program for 12 months; Meet with your participant at least twice a month; Have reliable personal transportation or access to public transportation; Have a computer and internet access to log volunteer hours and complete Session notes; Have not received services or participated in a USHS program in the past year.
