Decorate for the Holidays During Big Sunday’s Annual Holiday Decorating Week!
Each year we get asked to decorate all kinds of places – vets’ homes, clinics, shelters, group residences – in all kinds of ways for all the year-end holidays. Sometimes the residents join in, too! And sometimes even Santa stops by, too. If you or your group wants to spread some cheer this year, let us know and we’ll find a place for you!

Join Bolsa Chica Conservancy for their monthly public tour of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands! Looking for an exciting and educational way to spend your Saturday morning? Join them on a guided hike of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve! During this tour, you'll learn the history, wildlife, and the restoration of the wetlands! Distribute Food, Clothes, and Essentials to Those in Need with Long Beach Community Table
Every weekend, Long Beach Community Table's volunteers bring fresh produce, nutritious food, toiletry essentials, shoes, socks, and clothing directly to people in areas of great need around Long Beach. Come Sing-a-long at Our Annual Big Sunday Holiday Party!
Each year people from all walks of life join us to eat, sing (with a live band!) and enjoy the holidays. As always, our guests of honor are the incredible kids from Ability First. We’re also hosting other friends with struggles large and small. Volunteers are needed to spread some holiday cheer to our invited guests. There will be singing (good singing not necessary)(trust us)(and no, you don’t have to sing if you don’t want to). We’ll deck the halls and light a menorah, too!

During the COVID-19 crisis, Long Beach Community Table and their dedicated volunteers have been filling 260+ bags with nutritious groceries weekly at their warehouse, then delivering food to nearly 500 seniors, immune-compromised individuals and financially distressed families throughout the greater Long Beach area. Feed the Soul While Helping Feed the Hungry with LA Food Bank
Volunteers are needed to help maintain crowd control and social distancing, and distribute food boxes to seniors in need in the community! The food boxes consist of shelf-stable staples such as milk, beans, grains, and canned fruits and vegetables. These boxes go to an average of 28,000 seniors every month at 146 sites throughout Los Angeles County! LA Food Bank is proud to facilitate the largest CSFP in the country and are eternally grateful for the dedicated volunteers who make this work possible! PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: Be able to lift up to 30 pounds, Participate the entire shift, Be at least 18 years old. Previously held biweekly as “2W@10,” these special events are held from 10:00am – 11:30am each Wednesday where we do fun activities to help local nonprofits. And what’s extra special about these Wednesday events? Our guests of honor are wonderful and fun volunteers with some developmental challenges who want to give back and help others, in groups and as individuals. The accessible activities we’ll do on Wednesdays are specifically designed with these guests in mind, so that everyone can participate and have fun volunteering – because we believe very strongly that absolutely everyone has something to give. TM@10 (Thursday Morning @ 10) is not only one of our favorite programs, but it’s one of our most popular, too! We meet every Thursday morning, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. And we host hands-on projects to help local nonprofits. At TM@10 we’ve assembled birthday gifts for folks in shelters; written letters to soldiers stationed overseas; packed backpacks for ex-gang members starting college; made quilts for preemies; and about 1000 other things. Even better – and in classic Big Sunday fashion – it’s a great way for people to meet new people, work together, and enjoy some laughs while helping someone else.
