Help PATH and Become a Food Rescue Driver
Food rescue drivers help their staff team to combat food insecurity by helping to bring much needed food resources directly to the communities that they serve. PATH partners with local food rescue agencies, grocery stores, and restaurants to rescue excess food and then distribute it to individuals and families that are food insecure. Food Recue Drivers commit to a regularly scheduled food rescue shift, where they are assigned a day and time to pick up food donations for drop-off at a local PATH site. Volunteer Drivers are expected to use their own vehicle, or a PATH van, to pick up food donated from local community partners. This position is ideal for individuals who would like to help support individuals and families impacted by homelessness, and at the same time help reduce food waste. Spend Time Cleaning Up the Community with the Pico Union Project

Help Project Angel Food with Office Projects
This volunteering opportunity is for those who have a varying schedule, don’t particularly have an affinity for cooking, and love to show off their organizational or creative skills. You may help on an as-needed basis in Project Angel Food's offices. There are various projects, including mailings, donor and client outreach, assembling gift bags for events, decorating client birthday bags or meal delivery bags, making Feed Bead bracelets, packaging Project Angel Food’s Do Gooding Good Cookies, and countless other tasks requiring nimble and creative hands.
Help Project Angel Food with Special Events
Project Angel Food has events throughout the year. Volunteers are vital to the success of these events and present unique opportunities to engage with their supporters. From annual events like Bowling for Angels, Angel Awards, Lead with Love Telethon, to bespoke chef’s dinners and private parties, volunteers help them secure much-needed resources for their mission in fun, social settings. For the safety of all volunteers, staff and guests, all volunteers must have received a COVID-19 vaccination and meet the age requirement based on specific event requirements.
Volunteer as a Telephone Angel for Project Angel Food
The isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the loneliness of many of those that Project Angel Food serves, as well as some of their volunteers. The Telephone Angels program adds human contact to the lives of both their clients and volunteers through regularly scheduled phone calls to check in, share updates and add brightness to the day. The commitment of the volunteer helps to build a friendly bond and give the client and volunteer something to look forward to each week.
Volunteer to Help Unhoused Pets at Project Minnie
PROJECT MINNIE is always in need of caring people who can pack food, make sandwiches, help distribute supplies and photograph the animals on the boardwalk. Thwy also need folks who will generously donate their time and expertise for specialized tasks including legal advice, grant writing, newsletter writing, graphic design and public relations. They are encouraging the community to get involved in celebrating this holiday season with those at PATH residences who may need an extra support and encouragement during this especially trying time. By hosting a holiday celebration, you have the opportunity to: Sponsor a meal/snack to provide for community celebration,Bring cookies and decorate them in holiday-inspired themes (approx. $250-$275), Bring Holiday decorations and decorate common room of PATH building, Host a holiday movie night and bring popcorn and treats for guests, Bring group games (Bingo, card games, trivia, etc.) to play with residents, Organize a raffle-prize giveaway.
