Feed the Soul While Helping Feed the Hungry with LA Food Bank

Volunteers are needed to help maintain crowd control and social distancing, and distribute food boxes to seniors in need in the community! The food boxes consist of shelf-stable staples such as milk, beans, grains, and canned fruits and vegetables. These boxes go to an average of 28,000 seniors every month at 146 sites throughout Los Angeles County! LA Food Bank is proud to facilitate the largest CSFP in the country and are eternally grateful for the dedicated volunteers who make this work possible! Deliver Food to Community Fridges with LA Community Fridges

Every Tuesday, LA Community Fridges meet up at an LA location (meeting location may change weekly - you will be notified in advance) with a large amount of produce donated from Food Forward. Volunteers can help organize/bag the produce and/or help distribute it to community fridges. It's a fun way to meet and mingle with other volunteers in LA while also ensuring that LA Community Fridges keep their fridges stocked with fresh and healthy food for everyone's neighbors! Volunteer at Lucky Duck Foundation

The Lucky Duck Food and Water Initiative has distributed over 1.4 million meals to San Diego’s unsheltered neighbors since May 2020. Volunteers help pack, sort, and load food and water for homeless outreach teams to distribute throughout San Diego County. Volunteers also sort and distribute items like face shields, masks, hygiene kits, EMPWR Coats, and clothing. Volunteers are critical to making the program happen, so please consider signing up! Volunteer bagging shifts take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00-3:00pm at the San Diego Rescue Mission Warehouse (212 East 26th Street, National City, CA 91950). Note: though it is most helpful if you can volunteer for 3 hours, you do not need to sign up for all 3 hours, you can volunteer in 1-hour increments. Volunteer at Union Station Homeless Services’ Dinner in the Park

Every year, Union Station Homeless Services holds their Thanksgiving event, Dinner in the Park. This year the event will be spread amongst 3 days, where they provide pre-cooked Thanksgiving meals and ingredient boxes to prepare your own meal at home. With such a large scale event they could really use volunteer support! They have a variety of volunteer shifts available through November 18th until November 24th. If interested in volunteering, please fill out a volunteer application. All volunteers need to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Age requirements: volunteers need to be at least 13 years old with a chaperone and 16 years old to volunteer without one. URM needs extra hands in the kitchen during the entire Thanksgiving Celebration on Saturday Nov.18th.
