Every year, Union Station Homeless Services holds their Thanksgiving event, Dinner in the Park. This year the event will be spread amongst 3 days, where they provide pre-cooked Thanksgiving meals and ingredient boxes to prepare your own meal at home. With such a large scale event they could really use volunteer support! They could use assistance collecting much needed food items. Their orientation covers a brief history of their organization, volunteer guidelines, arrival instructions, and more. Their age requirement requires volunteers to be at least 13 years old to volunteer with a chaperone, and at least 16 years old to volunteer without one. Serve Breakfast to Those in Need with St. Francis Center

St. Francis Center is a soup kitchen and food pantry located in Downtown LA that serves the housed and unhoused communities. Volunteer roles are assigned on the day of the event and are based on the needs of the organization, but typically include: Table Captains/Floaters – The volunteer in this role will act as the server for the table and assist guests with anything they need. Coffee Captains– Volunteers help prepare cups of coffee and provide refills when needed. Kitchen Captains– This volunteer will help in the kitchen. They can expect to help with food prep and preparing the breakfast plates or soup. Requirements & Skills: Must be 18 years or older, All volunteers must review and sign St. Francis Center's volunteer application form. Volunteer or Donate for United Station Homeless Services’ Adopt-A-Meal Program

Union Station Homeless Services relies on the support of volunteer groups to provide daily home-cooked meals to shelter residents and community members in need. If your family, corporation, or civic group would like to cook or donate a meal at one of their shelters, consider sponsoring an Adopt-a-Meal! You can cook at home, use one of their kitchens, buy food from a restaurant and drop it off at their location, donate ingredients, or even donate a gift card to Smart and Final. There are so many ways to help! Volunteers must be 13 years old to participate with a chaperone or 16 years old to participate without one.
