Sort and Distribute Food Bags with Christian Outreach in Action (COA)

Christian Outreach in Action (COA) is a non-profit organization, that serves homeless and low-income people in Long Beach. Christian Outreach in Action's Food Bank gives out groceries 5 days a week to low-income, and homeless residents who are hungry and fighting with food insecurity. Food is distributed from Monday through Friday. What You'll be Doing: Setting up food bank area, greeting clients, assembling food bags, restocking shelves, unloading shipments of food and giving out food to clients. Requirements & Skills: Minimum age to volunteer is 18. Some light to moderate lifting, although not necessary for all roles. Ability to stand and bend. Ability to respect and maintain personal boundaries and client confidentiality Comfortable working indoors. COA requires all of their volunteers to sign waiver forms before volunteering. Volunteer at Lucky Duck Foundation

The Lucky Duck Food and Water Initiative has distributed over 1.4 million meals to San Diego’s unsheltered neighbors since May 2020. Volunteers help pack, sort, and load food and water for homeless outreach teams to distribute throughout San Diego County. Volunteers also sort and distribute items like face shields, masks, hygiene kits, EMPWR Coats, and clothing. Volunteers are critical to making the program happen, so please consider signing up! Volunteer bagging shifts take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00-3:00pm at the San Diego Rescue Mission Warehouse (212 East 26th Street, National City, CA 91950). Note: though it is most helpful if you can volunteer for 3 hours, you do not need to sign up for all 3 hours, you can volunteer in 1-hour increments. Volunteer and Donate Thanksgiving Meal Kits to PATH

Thanksgiving meal kits can be assembled at home in reusable grocery bags, boxes, tote bags or baskets. They encourage you to also include a handwritten note of support and holiday cheer. Please check out their Amazon Thanksgiving Wishlist for ideas of what to include in your basket: Urgent Needs: • Boxed stuffing mix • Cranberry sauce • Pie crust mix or dessert mix • Canned vegetables • Mashed potato mix or boxed mac & cheese • $20 grocery store gift card for a turkey *For health and safety reasons, all donated items must be new & unopened. Load Food Into Cars with Project 29:11

Project 29:11 currently serves 250 clients per week. They hosts a drive-thru distribution every Friday from 1 pm - 3 pm (or until food runs out). Volunteer Duties: Volunteers are needed to help load food boxes into vehicles as they drive by. Requirements & Skills: Must be 18 years or older, Must wear mask, Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, Be able to lift up to 30 lbs, and Be able to stand for long periods of time. Sack lunches should consist of... Ham, turkey, or beef sandwich with light mayo/mustard (To be cautious of nut allergies, The Midnight Mission requests no peanut butter and jelly sandwiches please) 2+ side snacks (chips, fruit, granola bars, cheese, etc) No need to include beverages or napkins (those are covered by the Mission) SPECIAL NOTES: In addition to your sack lunches, any donations of the following items would be greatly appreciated. North Valley Caring Services provides food to more than 2000 families and individuals in need. They are currently holding drive-thru distributions on Thursdays and Fridays. Volunteer Duties: Duties vary based on need, but typically include packing boxes with groceries, loading groceries into vehicles as they drive-thru, traffic control, pantry set-up and break down.
