They’re looking for creative and festive volunteers to help refresh, provide, and set up holiday decorations in their shelters and community center. Volunteers will help: Assess and update their current decorations, Donate new Christmas décor as needed, Decorate their spaces in early December, Bring the holiday spirit to life and help make the season special for their families! Teach A Life Skills Class at Door of Hope

Teach A Life Skills Class at Door of Hope. Life skill classes empower parents to develop skills and knowledge that will sustain them once they move into homes of their own. Class topics include emotions, parenting, healthy relationships, coping skills, and cultural differences. They’ll provide the curriculum; you facilitate the class. The time commitment is one-hour a week for four or five weeks at one of their transitional shelters. To apply, please complete the Application.

Join the River Crew with Friends of the LA River

Friends of the LA River depends on volunteers to help protect and care for the River. By joining the River Crew, you’re showing that you want to support the River beyond just a single event. Help Inner City Arts with Studio Support

Inner-City Arts, widely regarded as one of the nation’s most effective arts education providers, is an oasis of learning, achievement, and creativity in the heart of Skid Row. They consider it a vital part of their mission to be a community partner in the work of creating a safer, healthier Los Angeles. Support their mission by becoming a Studio volunteer and work alongside teaching artists to support K-12 students in one of Inner City Arts' seven studios: Visual Arts, Ceramics, Creativity Lab, Media Arts, Drama, Dance, and Music. For fall terms, they welcome studio volunteers who are able to commit to at least a two-hour session once per week for up to 15 weeks.

As a charm school teacher, there is a 2.5 hour commitment once a week and they ask that volunteers commit to a shift. Usually, volunteers work in groups of 3-4, which makes it a great for groups looking to volunteer together! They have volunteers on-site from 9am-8:30pm (Mon-Wed) and 9am-6pm (Thur-Sun).

My Friend's Place annual Holiday in-kind drive is a way for young people ages 12 to 25 who are impacted by homelessness can enjoy themselves and receive both presents and essentials. Their biggest need is donations of items on their Holiday Wishlist, linked below, as they want to provide young people with as much as possible while also stocking up on items for distribution throughout the next year.
