Do Your Part at the Hollywood Food Coalition’s Community Exchange

Hollywood Food Coalition’s Community Exchange is a free, concierge food service aimed at providing small to medium-sized social service nonprofits the food they need, when they want it, so they can focus on their missions. As a kitchen ourselves, they understand the struggle to find and acquire food in the right quantities and at the right time through the current food bank model. The Exchange is changing how all of that works. Their careful recipient intake and feedback process, paired with their innovative food rescue data-tracking system, allows them to create a concierge model that works better for all recipients. You can volunteer to keep the Community Exchange running smoothly! Visit: https://hofoco.org/community-exchange-volunteer/

Partner With Hollywood Food Coalition’s Exchange

Hollywood Food Coalition is working hard to bring as many recipients into their program as they can, and they’ll continue to grow their partnerships as they increase their food donations. Hollywood Food Coalition started as a kitchen that cooked every meal with donated food. It’s hard to do that. Especially when donations come and go at random. And when they do arrive, the quantities and qualities are varied. If you ask them, there’s a better way. They’re driven to prove it.The Exchange goes to great lengths to learn about your organization, your programs, and the populations you serve. They’ll learn what your capacity constraints are and the types of food your clients love. They’ll do their best to accommodate all of it, collecting feedback as you work together. They think this is pretty exciting, and they hope you do too. Please fill out their initial inquiry form, and they’ll contact you with further information. Together, you’ll change the food rescue and redistribution game. Visit: https://hofoco.org/receive-food-and-essentials/

Donate to Support Long Beach Community Table

Long Beach Community Table (LBCT) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, cooperative (meaning that all volunteers and recipients share in the effort and the benefits), that nourish those who are struggling and provides resources that allow all to mutually sustain each other, families, and neighbors. In the spirit of community, many of their volunteers are also recipients, and vice versa…this is what makes them a true mutual aid organization and not a charity. Provide Sleeping Bag Coats to Lucky Duck Foundation

While they call on regional elected officials to add more immediately available beds, the need to provide protection and warmth from the elements is critical. As such, the Lucky Duck Foundation has committed to distributing several thousand more Empowerment Plan winter coats during the fall and winter of 2022. This is in addition to distributing more than 5,000 coats since 2020. The first 100 coats were distributed on World Homeless Day (10/10) in partnership with the Empowerment Plan, who distributed 100 coats across 10 different cities on 10/10. These weather-resistant coats are manufactured by homeless parents and transform into sleeping bags to provide reprieve and protection from the cold pavement. It is the least everyone can do while everyone encourages elected officials to add inclement weather shelter beds. Coats will be distributed through the food and water initiative, which has provided more than 1,500,000 meals to date and reaches approximately 1,000 people per day. Please consider donating in support of this effort. All donations are matched up to $1.5 million per year by LDF co-founders Pat & Stephanie Kilkenny. Provide Food and Water for Lucky Duck Foundation

Thanks to generous support from local philanthropist Gwendolyn Sontheim and the Aqualia International Foundation, LTD, Lucky Duck partnered with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, Regional Task Force on the Homeless, and numerous outreach teams to distribute food and water to people living unsheltered throughout San Diego City & County. The San Diego Sheriff’s Department provides the meals and water, and Lucky Duck Foundation staff and volunteers pack the meals and coordinate with local outreach workers to distribute them across the City & County. These efforts provide neighbors experiencing homelessness with life-saving sustenance to support their efforts to end their homelessness. The program reaches approximately 1,000 people daily. In less than two and a half years, the program has distributed more than 1,500,000 meals. With your help they can continue to expand this number to provide food and water and help move even more people move off the streets and into shelter, housing, and a healthier and brighter path. Consider donating to this program! Visit: https://www.luckyduckfoundation.org/provide-food-and-water/
