Each year we get asked to decorate all kinds of places Ð vets' homes, clinics, shelters, group residences Ð in all kinds of ways for all the year-end holidays. Sometimes the residents join in, too! And sometimes even Santa stops by, too. If you or your group wants to spread some cheer this year, let us know and we'll find a place for you!
OUTDOORS Help distribute food! (Van Nuys) BMC- Monday Shift
Volunteers are needed to help maintain crowd control and social distancing, and distribute food boxes to older adults in need in our community! The food boxes consist of shelf-stable staples such as milk, beans, grains, and canned fruits and vegetables. Must be 18+ to volunteer.
OUTDOORS: Help Distribute Food for Seniors (San Fernando) – Monday Shift
Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has worked to mobilize resources in the community to alleviate hunger. We will be assembling food packages for over 29,000 families, older adults, and children who face food insecurity in Los Angeles County. (The food packages consist of food items like canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, cereal and other non-perishable food items.) Please refer to volunteer guidelines and dress code on sign-up. Volunteers must be 18+
Collect Toys for IDEPSCA’s Dia de Reyes Toy Drive
Our Mujeres en Accion program is planning a "Dia de Reyes" (Toys' Drive) event that will be hosted on Saturday, January 11, 2025 in the Pico Union neighborhood area in which we are planning to have about 50 families and distribute toys to approximately 100 children. We are seeking for monetary donations and/or new toys donations for children from 0-16 years old so we have enough toys that will be distributed with children of low income community members-workers who especially during the winter season have found hard to keep or find a job. At the event we are also planning to provide educational materials which will include: Health & safety and workers' rights, IDEPSCA has a long experience in creating educational materials in spanish and we are planning to provide a tote bag to each participant with educational materials that include: minimum wage, wage theft, know your rights booklet as well as other resources and information. Please donate unwrapped new toys for children from 1-16 years old. You can also donate money that can help us to purchase toys and breakfast for children and their moms the day of the event, you can use this link to donate. Volunteer at URM Thrift Boutique with Union Rescue Mission
Volunteers will provide support at the Covina Thrift Store by sorting through donations, cleaning & organizing the facility, and other various tasks delegated by the Thrift Store Manager. Volunteers are needed between 11am to 5pm. Partial shifts are welcome. Please check in with management upon arrival and inform them what time you will be leaving. Age requirement: 18 years old and over.
Make A Difference at Big Sunday’s AW@10 Event
We'd love to have you join us for our Accessible Wednesday morning program, AW@10! Previously held biweekly as "2W@10," these special events are held from 10:00am Ð 11:30am each Wednesday where we do fun activities to help local nonprofits. And what's extra special about these Wednesday events? Our guests of honor are wonderful and fun volunteers with some developmental challenges who want to give back and help others, in groups and as individuals. The accessible activities we'll do on Wednesdays are specifically designed with these guests in mind, so that everyone can participate and have fun volunteering - because we believe very strongly that absolutely everyone has something to give. Organize and Sort Food for Community Fridges with LA Community Fridges
Help sort, prep, and distribute produce to community members at St. James Park (23 St. James Park, 90007). Volunteers should arrive around 11:50 am to assist with culling, sorting, and organizing the produce. This role supports efficient and equitable distribution to ensure each recipient receives quality produce
Deliver Food to Community Fridges with LA Community Fridges
After sorting, volunteers can help transport prepared produce to community fridges. Plan to swing by St. James Park between 1:00 and 1:30 pm to load up your vehicle with produce, meals, and water. Volunteers will deliver these items directly to the community fridge assigned during sign-up.
Transport Compost with LA Community Fridges
Assist with sustainability efforts by collecting compost from the park and delivering it to LA Compost at the LA River Farmers Market or disposing of it in green bins. Plan to arrive at 1:30 pm to pick up the compost (up to 50 lbs) and help reduce waste while giving back to the community.

Help Out at LA Family Housing’s Donation Center
Join in assisting with the efficient operation of their donation center! Help sort and hang clothing, assemble kits, and assist during pick-up times. Work alongside other dedicated volunteers to ensure that donations are organized and ready for distribution to those in need. YOUR IMPACT: Your efforts will help provide essential items to individuals and families in need, ensuring they receive clean, properly fitting clothing and necessary supplies. With your help, they can swiftly sort and distribute donations to our community.
