On Saturday, November 9th, Better Neighbor Project (BNP) will partner with Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel and Councilmember Imelda Padilla to host a Pet Wellness Day event, where organizations come together to provide pet wellness services, free pet food, surrender prevention, and other educational resources and offerings. Join the Event Crew and help out at check-in or with general setup at monthly wellness events, providing free pet services, resources and humane education to surrounding communities

Help remove invasive weeds and care for a community restoration site to benefit wildlife. Students can receive community service hours.

Join the Bolsa Chica Conservancy at their weekly Live Animal Feedings to witness firsthand the feeding behavior of California native animals! If you're looking to get out of the house and learn about local animals, join them in person for their weekly live animal feeding! Here you will be able to learn more about the animals at the Interpretive Center, including snakes, sharks, crabs, and much more! During the feeding, they will cover topics like feeding habits and the general biology and anatomy of reptiles and marine animals! This is a free event but donations are always welcome to help with the cost of caring for and feeding their animals. They hope to see you there! Spaces are very limited due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, so please contact [email protected] if you can no longer attend. *This presentation may also be recorded and live-streamed on their YouTube channel and Facebook Live. Your attendance at this event is your consent for the Bolsa Chica Conservancy to use your image and likeness for use in print, media, and promotional purposes.* This is an observational event, not a volunteer event. ***Please note that the snake feedings involve live mice.***

Volunteering in the kitchen can be a great way to give back to your community. Whether you're helping to prepare meals for those in need, or assisting with kitchen duties such as food serving, bussing, or greeting, your time and effort can make a significant impact on those transitioning away from homelessness. Please keep in mind that you will be asked to also tend to the dining area where you will interact with the participants that LAFH serves. Provide quality service by serving nourishing meals for those who may not otherwise have access to them. You can also help to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where people can gather and connect over a warm meal. Dress code: Pants, closed-toed shoes, and clean shirt. All volunteers will be wearing a hairnet and gloves. Volunteers need to be 18 plus.

At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night folks gather as a community to celebrate, honor, and remember those touched by blood cancers. Friends, families, schools, corporate teams, and sponsors join together to bring light to the darkness of cancer. The funds raised by this community fund life saving research, advocacy and support for blood cancer patients and their families. Join them in the fight to cure cancer! It is highly recommended that all blood cancer patients or other immunocompromised individuals check with their healthcare provider before attending this event. While at the event, they urge the community to respect anyone's choice to continue to take precautions like masking or social distancing.

Help prepare and serve lunch at Union Rescue Missions kitchen! At this time they are serving our guests indoors and their unsheltered guests are receiving grab and go meals. They cannot do it - without YOU! The age requirement to volunteer in the kitchen is 14 years old. Volunteers under the age of 18 are required to have an adult chaperone with them at all times. The adult chaperone also must register.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is pleased to present the Southern California's Finest, an event honoring Los Angeles and Orange County's young professionals. These individuals show exemplary leadership, are active in their communities, and have excelled in their profession or business. The professional individuals who participate will be given the opportunity to display their community involvement and highlight their professional achievements, while raising funds to help support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Each honoree who makes a commitment to help the Foundation make CF stand for "Cure Found," will be recognized for their career achievements and fundraising efforts at the Finest Finale celebration at The Garland Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

We want to honor and support our veterans this season! Consider donating a small gift or leading a game night, such as bingo, to show your appreciation. Your thoughtful gestures will make a meaningful impact and help brighten their day. Let's come together to celebrate those who have served! Volunteers 13+ are needed.

Volunteers are needed to help maintain crowd control and social distancing, and distribute food boxes to seniors in need in our community! The food boxes consist of shelf-stable staples such as milk, beans, grains, and canned fruits and vegetables. Must be 18+ to volunteer.

Volunteers will provide support at the Union Rescue Mission basement warehouse in DTLA by helping with various projects as needed. Projects include organizing canned food, sweeping, mopping, assisting with receiving deliveries.

They cannot do it - without YOU! The age requirement to volunteer in the kitchen is 14 years old. Volunteers under the age of 18 are required to have an adult chaperone with them at all times. Volunteers will provide support at the Covina Thrift Store by sorting through donations, cleaning & organizing the facility, and other various tasks delegated by the Thrift Store Manager. Volunteers are needed between 11am to 5pm. Partial shifts are welcome. Please check in with management upon arrival and inform them what time you will be leaving. Age requirement: 18 years old and over.

Join in assisting with the efficient operation of their donation center! Help sort and hang clothing, assemble kits, and assist during pick-up times. Work alongside other dedicated volunteers to ensure that donations are organized and ready for distribution to those in need. YOUR IMPACT: Your efforts will help provide essential items to individuals and families in need, ensuring they receive clean, properly fitting clothing and necessary supplies. With your help, they can swiftly sort and distribute donations to our community.

Christian Outreach in Action (COA) is a non-profit organization, that serves homeless and low-income people in Long Beach. Christian Outreach in Action's Food Bank gives out groceries 5 days a week to low-income, and homeless residents who are hungry and fighting with food insecurity. Food is distributed from Monday through Friday. Must be 18+. No court-ordered volunteers.

You're invited to serve a meal at one of our sites this fall season. Join us in spreading kindness on this day to uplift our guests and share meaningful time with them. We'd love to have you join us for our Accessible Wednesday morning program, AW@10! Previously held biweekly as "2W@10," these special events are held from 10:00am Ð 11:30am each Wednesday where we do fun activities to help local nonprofits. And what's extra special about these Wednesday events? Our guests of honor are wonderful and fun volunteers with some developmental challenges who want to give back and help others, in groups and as individuals. The accessible activities we'll do on Wednesdays are specifically designed with these guests in mind, so that everyone can participate and have fun volunteering - because we believe very strongly that absolutely everyone has something to give.
