Birthday Angels purchase a gift on a child’s wishlist, wrap it up in bows and love, and deliver it to the Community Center along with a hand-written card. Chaperone a Field Trip with Door of Hope
Throughout the year, Door of Hope's Kids Program offers exciting field trips to various locations. Activities include cooling off at a pool, enjoying movies at the theater, and marveling at the sea creatures at the aquarium. To volunteer as a chaperone, you must be at least 18 years old, complete a free Live Scan background check, and fill out the Application.

Are you ready to have fun? During Door of Hope's Christmas Festival in December, they need your help to make this event extra special! Whether you want to paint faces, run a water balloon toss, serve hot chocolate, or even host a water dunk booth, they’d love to hear your creative ideas for a fun-filled experience! Mentor the Youth with Door of Hope
Make a lasting impact by mentoring a Door of Hope teenager. You’ll be matched with a youth based on shared career ambitions and personal interests, fostering a meaningful connection that can shape their future. You will have an introductory meeting at one of their shelters facilitated by their Youth Coordinator to ensure a compatible match. The mentorship duration is a minimum of three hours a month for four months with the option to continue. Teach A Life Skills Class at Door of Hope
Teach A Life Skills Class at Door of Hope. Life skill classes empower parents to develop skills and knowledge that will sustain them once they move into homes of their own. Class topics include emotions, parenting, healthy relationships, coping skills, and cultural differences. They’ll provide the curriculum; you facilitate the class. The time commitment is one-hour a week for four or five weeks at one of their transitional shelters. To apply, please complete the Application.

Help Inner City Arts with Studio Support
Inner-City Arts, widely regarded as one of the nation’s most effective arts education providers, is an oasis of learning, achievement, and creativity in the heart of Skid Row. They consider it a vital part of their mission to be a community partner in the work of creating a safer, healthier Los Angeles. Support their mission by becoming a Studio volunteer and work alongside teaching artists to support K-12 students in one of Inner City Arts' seven studios: Visual Arts, Ceramics, Creativity Lab, Media Arts, Drama, Dance, and Music. For fall terms, they welcome studio volunteers who are able to commit to at least a two-hour session once per week for up to 15 weeks.

My Friend's Place annual Holiday in-kind drive is a way for young people ages 12 to 25 who are impacted by homelessness can enjoy themselves and receive both presents and essentials. Their biggest need is donations of items on their Holiday Wishlist, linked below, as they want to provide young people with as much as possible while also stocking up on items for distribution throughout the next year. They are encouraging the community to get involved in celebrating this holiday season with those at PATH residences who may need an extra support and encouragement during this especially trying time. By hosting a holiday celebration, you have the opportunity to: Sponsor a meal/snack to provide for community celebration,Bring cookies and decorate them in holiday-inspired themes (approx. $250-$275), Bring Holiday decorations and decorate common room of PATH building, Host a holiday movie night and bring popcorn and treats for guests, Bring group games (Bingo, card games, trivia, etc.) to play with residents, Organize a raffle-prize giveaway.
