The Lucky Duck Foundation's Food and Water Initiative has distributed more than 800,000 meals to San Diego’s unsheltered neighbors since May 2020. Volunteers help by sorting boxes of food and water for homeless outreach teams to distribute to more than 1,000 individuals living on the streets. Volunteers also sort and distribute items like face shields, masks, hygiene kits, EMPWR Coats, and clothing. On rare instances, volunteers will be asked to pack the meals in an assembly line. Volunteers are necessary to keep the program running, so please consider signing up! Volunteer events take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30-8:45 a.m. at our distribution sites in Chula Vista (465 C Street, Chula Vista, CA) and Miramar (6225 Marindustry Drive, San Diego, CA). The Food Bank provides food to families and individuals through their Mobile Food Pantry (MFP) program, which distributes food off of their trucks at various locations throughout LA County. Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers are needed to help process vehicles at MFP sites, collect household information from clients, distribute and load food, and assist with traffic control to ensure the distribution runs smoothly. Requirements and Skills: Must be 18 and older. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Be able to stand up for the entire shift. Be able to participate during the entire shift.
