Make A Difference at Big Sunday’s AW@10 Event

We'd love to have you join us for our Accessible Wednesday morning program, AW@10! Previously held biweekly as "2W@10," these special events are held from 10:00am – 11:30am each Wednesday where we do fun activities to help local nonprofits. And what’s extra special about these Wednesday events? Our guests of honor are wonderful and fun volunteers with some developmental challenges who want to give back and help others, in groups and as individuals. The accessible activities we'll do on Wednesdays are specifically designed with these guests in mind, so that everyone can participate and have fun volunteering - because we believe very strongly that absolutely everyone has something to give. People of ALL ability levels are invited to join us on Wednesdays! All we ask is that you show up ready to be part of a community of helpful people! Visit: https://bigsunday.org/get-involved/aw10/

Volunteer at Union Station Homeless Services’ Dinner in the Park

Every year, Union Station Homeless Services holds their Thanksgiving event, Dinner in the Park. This year the event will be spread amongst 3 days, where they provide pre-cooked Thanksgiving meals and ingredient boxes to prepare your own meal at home. With such a large scale event they could really use volunteer support! They have a variety of volunteer shifts available through November 18th until November 24th. If interested in volunteering, please fill out a volunteer application. All volunteers need to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Age requirements: volunteers need to be at least 13 years old with a chaperone and 16 years old to volunteer without one. This event could not be held without the support of volunteers and community members like yourself. Thank you so much! Please visit: https://www.volgistics.com/appform/842785535

Volunteer at Lucky Duck Foundation

The Lucky Duck Food and Water Initiative has distributed over 1.4 million meals to San Diego’s unsheltered neighbors since May 2020. Volunteers help pack, sort, and load food and water for homeless outreach teams to distribute throughout San Diego County. Volunteers also sort and distribute items like face shields, masks, hygiene kits, EMPWR Coats, and clothing. Volunteers are critical to making the program happen, so please consider signing up! Volunteer bagging shifts take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00-3:00pm at the San Diego Rescue Mission Warehouse (212 East 26th Street, National City, CA 91950). Note: though it is most helpful if you can volunteer for 3 hours, you do not need to sign up for all 3 hours, you can volunteer in 1-hour increments. Sign up to volunteer via website link or email Will Shea at will@luckyduckfoundation.org with questions. Visit: https://www.luckyduckfoundation.org/volunteer/

Make A Difference at Big Sunday’s TM@10 Event

TM@10 (Thursday Morning @ 10) is not only one of our favorite programs, but it’s one of our most popular, too! We meet every Thursday morning, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. And we host hands-on projects to help local nonprofits. At TM@10 we’ve assembled birthday gifts for folks in shelters; written letters to soldiers stationed overseas; packed backpacks for ex-gang members starting college; made quilts for preemies; and about 1000 other things. Even better – and in classic Big Sunday fashion – it’s a great way for people to meet new people, work together, and enjoy some laughs while helping someone else.
