Become a Rest Stop Leader during Ride for Red an amazing cycling event for the American Red Cross that takes riders through beautiful Ventura County with a 30 mile, 65 mile or 100 mile scenic cycling ride with periodic rest stops. Ride for the Red was created by passionate, local volunteers eager to share the story and history of the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces. Greet and welcome riders as they come through the rest stop! Tasks include: helping with set up, answering questions, passing out drinks and snacks.

Assemble Food Packages! INDUSTRY – (Minors 14 to 17) Every Saturday in November – Shift 1

Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has worked to mobilize resources in the community to alleviate hunger. We will be assembling food packages for over 29,000 families, older adults, and children who face food insecurity in Los Angeles County. (The food packages consist of food items like canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, cereal and other non-perishable food items.) Please refer to volunteer guidelines and dress code on sign-up. Volunteers must be 14+.

Take Part in Calabasas Farmers Market Glean with Food Forward

Recover produce, fight hunger, and build community at your local farmers market! We "glean"---meaning we collect fresh, surplus produce that would otherwise go to waste--and donate 100% to local hunger relief organizations. Join the Volunteer Glean Team to help collect fruit and vegetable donations from vendors at the farmers market, and then box, sort, and weigh the donations. Volunteers should be comfortable carrying boxes of produce that may weigh up to 40 pounds, but can register to volunteer with someone who can help them lift if 40 pounds is too heavy. Volunteers don't need to worry about bringing equipment or transporting the food. This opportunity is open to volunteers 12 years old and older, though children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Assist with Kitchen Duties and Prepping Meals – Saturday Dinner Shift

Volunteering in the kitchen can be a great way to give back to your community. Whether you're helping to prepare meals for those in need, or assisting with kitchen duties such as food serving, bussing, or greeting, your time and effort can make a significant impact on those transitioning away from homelessness. Please keep in mind that you will be asked to also tend to the dining area where you will interact with the participants that LAFH serves. Provide quality service by serving nourishing meals for those who may not otherwise have access to them. You can also help to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where people can gather and connect over a warm meal. Dress code: Pants, closed-toed shoes, and clean shirt. All volunteers will be wearing a hairnet and gloves. Volunteers need to be 18 plus.

Prepare and Serve Lunch Meals with Union Rescue Mission

Help prepare and serve lunch at Union Rescue Missions kitchen! At this time they are serving our guests indoors and their unsheltered guests are receiving grab and go meals. They cannot do it - without YOU! The age requirement to volunteer in the kitchen is 14 years old. Volunteers under the age of 18 are required to have an adult chaperone with them at all times. The adult chaperone also must register.

Volunteer as a Kitchen Assistant with Project Angel Food

Project Angel Food's kitchen is 80% volunteer-driven. You don't need to be great cook, all you need to do is simply take direction from their professionally trained chefs. You'll join compassionate people in chopping vegetables, stirring sauces, mixing batter, baking cookies, and packaging the meals. They have shifts Sunday through Friday from 8:15 am to 12 pm and 1 to 4 pm. For the safety of all volunteers, staff and clients, all volunteers must have received a COVID-19 vaccination and be 14 years of age or older. Volunteers aged 14 or 15 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Volunteers aged 16 or 17 years must have a parent or guardian sign a liability waiver form.

Jewish Family Service Los Angeles (JFSLA) SOVA West Community Food & Resource Program provides a 5 day supply of free groceries and personal care items (when needed) to families and individuals facing food insecurity in addition to providing information and referrals to other community services. They currently serve 120 clients a day. Must be 18+. ***PLEASE READ*** JFSLA is requiring all volunteers and staff show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Volunteer to Deliver Food with Project Angel Food

Help provide some relief to Project Angel Food's staff meal delivery drivers. Volunteers deliver meals to 8 to 10 clients between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. every Sunday through Friday. The routes are within greater Los Angeles City area and take approximately 2 hours to complete. Volunteers drive their own vehicles, pick up at Project Angel Food, deliver the meals, and email in the results. Pick-ups and deliveries follow all COVID-19 mitigation guidelines, including masks, gloves, and distancing.

Help Distribute Meals and Water for the Unsheltered with Lucky Duck Foundation

The Lucky Duck Food and Water Initiative has distributed more than 1.8 million meals to San Diego's unsheltered neighbors since May 2020. Volunteers help by packing and/or distributing food and water for homeless outreach teams to distribute to individuals living on the streets. Volunteers are necessary to keep the program running, so please consider signing up. Volunteer events take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at our distribution sites in National City and the Midway District.

Volunteers are needed to help maintain crowd control and social distancing, and distribute food boxes to seniors in need in our community! The food boxes consist of shelf-stable staples such as milk, beans, grains, and canned fruits and vegetables. Must be 18+ to volunteer.
