Donate Holiday Gifts to The San Gabriel Pomona Parents’ Place Family Resource and Empowerment Center

Parents’ Place FRC is having their Annual Family Potluck! They are getting ready to host a fun-filled evening of gathering, eating, and bringing holiday cheer to their families and children. The Potluck will take place on December 15th, 2022. They are in need of toys they can give out for their children with special needs during the potluck. Please consider helping them out with this. They are in need of the following amount of toys: 60 toys ages 0 to 3 (male and female), 60 toys ages 3-13 (male and female), 30 Toys for ages 13-22 (for young adults with low cognitive level). Help Project Angel Food with Office Projects

This volunteering opportunity is for those who have a varying schedule, don’t particularly have an affinity for cooking, and love to show off their organizational or creative skills. You may help on an as-needed basis in Project Angel Food's offices. There are various projects, including mailings, donor and client outreach, assembling gift bags for events, decorating client birthday bags or meal delivery bags, making Feed Bead bracelets, packaging Project Angel Food’s Do Gooding Good Cookies, and countless other tasks requiring nimble and creative hands. Help Project Angel Food with Special Events

Project Angel Food has events throughout the year. Volunteers are vital to the success of these events and present unique opportunities to engage with their supporters. From annual events like Bowling for Angels, Angel Awards, Lead with Love Telethon, to bespoke chef’s dinners and private parties, volunteers help them secure much-needed resources for their mission in fun, social settings. Create Hygiene Kits with Project Ropa

Project Ropa is a nonprofit organization that helps restore dignity, rekindle optimism and empower the lives of people experiencing homelessness by providing clean clothes, hygiene kits and drinking water in a safe, humane and dignified way. They are looking for assistance creating hygiene kits to distribute to their unhoused neighbors. This can be done remotely by putting together items in a ziploc bag, tote bag or reusable grocery bag. (Please note: Items for the hygiene kits will not be provided by them.) They recommend reaching out to your network of friends and family to source the items. A list of what to include is provided on the website below. Once completed you can mail your kits to them at: Project Ropa, 2851 W 120th Street, Suite E #566, Hawthorne, CA 90250. Alternatively, drop-off hours at their warehouse are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9am-3pm and on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10am-1pm. Project Ropa operates the only Mobile Clothing Closet of its kind in the Los Angeles area. Their retrofitted van delivers hope as well as hygiene kits, drinking water and a full selection of men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories all neatly displayed on racks and shelves to unhoused and low-income individuals and families at service sites in Echo Park and Hollywood. At each location they operate in tandem with other mobile service providers which include showers, haircuts, ID replacement, food pantries, medical and dental clinics and employment and housing resources. In Echo Park, their events take place on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesday of each month. Volunteers will help with distributing clothing and personal hygiene essentials directly to those in need at their service locations. Project Ropa staff will be on-site at all times during services. Create Laundry Kits with Project Ropa

Help create laundry kits for Project Ropa to directly distribute to people experiencing homelessness in the Los Angeles area. This is a great activity for children to get involved with. In a sandwich size ziploc bag include the following items: a laundry detergent pod (individual dry pack) and fabric softener sheets. Optional: A handwritten note or drawing which can be seasonal appropriate for an upcoming holiday. Once completed you can mail your kits to them at: Project Ropa, 2851 W 120th Street, Suite E #566, Hawthorne, CA 90250. Alternatively, they accept donation drop offs at their warehouse on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am-3pm and on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10am-1pm.
