St. Francis Center is a soup kitchen and food pantry located in Downtown LA that serves the housed and unhoused communities. Volunteer roles are assigned on the day of the event and are based on the needs of the organization, but typically include: Table Captains/Floaters – The volunteer in this role will act as the server for the table and assist guests with anything they need. Coffee Captains– Volunteers help prepare cups of coffee and provide refills when needed. Kitchen Captains– This volunteer will help in the kitchen. They can expect to help with food prep and preparing the breakfast plates or soup. Centennial Place Program volunteers is a cohort program that introduces volunteers to the Centennial Place community through participation in on-site Centennial Place programs. These programs focused on the Arts, Wellness, and Community at Centennial Place are facilitated by a program volunteer or community partner. Volunteers must be at least 25 years old; Complete program orientation and training (and supplemental trainings); Complete a LiveScan State and Federal background check; Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination; Commit to the program for 12 months; Meet with your participant at least twice a month; Have reliable personal transportation or access to public transportation; Have a computer and internet access to log volunteer hours and complete Session notes; Have not received services or participated in a USHS program in the past year. Provide Food and Water for Lucky Duck Foundation

Thanks to generous support from local philanthropist Gwendolyn Sontheim and the Aqualia International Foundation, LTD, Lucky Duck partnered with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, Regional Task Force on the Homeless, and numerous outreach teams to distribute food and water to people living unsheltered throughout San Diego City & County. The San Diego Sheriff’s Department provides the meals and water, and Lucky Duck Foundation staff and volunteers pack the meals and coordinate with local outreach workers to distribute them across the City & County. These efforts provide neighbors experiencing homelessness with life-saving sustenance to support their efforts to end their homelessness. The program reaches approximately 1,000 people daily. In less than two and a half years, the program has distributed more than 1,500,000 meals. With your help they can continue to expand this number to provide food and water and help move even more people move off the streets and into shelter, housing, and a healthier and brighter path. Christian Outreach in Action (COA) is a non-profit organization, that serves homeless and low-income people in Long Beach. Christian Outreach in Action's Food Bank gives out groceries 5 days a week to low-income, and homeless residents who are hungry and fighting with food insecurity. Food is distributed from Monday through Friday. What You'll be Doing: Setting up food bank area, greeting clients, assembling food bags, restocking shelves, unloading shipments of food and giving out food to clients. Requirements & Skills: Minimum age to volunteer is 18. Some light to moderate lifting, although not necessary for all roles. Ability to stand and bend. Ability to respect and maintain personal boundaries and client confidentiality Comfortable working indoors. COA requires all of their volunteers to sign waiver forms before volunteering. Donate Prepared Meals to Skid Row

The Midnight Mission serves 3 meals a day to their homeless and near-homeless community. They have converted their sit-down meal service to a “take out” meal service for their community guests in support of physical distancing. Any prepared meals are welcome, including lunch bags with a sandwich, chips, beverage and fruit or dessert. Donations can be made 24/7. Hope on Union, United University Church is an inclusive, progressive campus and community church located near USC, Mt. St. Mary's College and LA Trade Tech College on S. Union Ave. between 22nd and 23rd St. They currently provide food to more than 200 individuals and families through their food pantry. What You'll be Doing: Wednesdays - Volunteers will help prepare food for upcoming distributions. Thursdays: Volunteer duties vary based on need, but typically include: Helping set-up, Distributing food to the community, Guiding clients , Collecting information from clients, and Replenishing food supplies. Requirements & Skills: Must be 18 years or older, Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, Be able to lift up to 30 lbs (tasks can be adjusted based on need), Be able to stand for long periods of time, and Spanish speaking is a plus.
