Distribute Food, Clothes, and Essentials to Those in Need with Long Beach Community Table
Every weekend, volunteers with Long Beach Community Table deliver fresh produce, nutritious food, toiletry essentials, shoes, socks, and clothing directly to individuals in areas of great need throughout Long Beach. This essential outreach effort ensures that vulnerable community members, including homeless individuals, low-income families, seniors, and those with disabilities, receive vital resources to support their health and well-being. By participating in this impactful initiative, volunteers play a crucial role in combating food insecurity and providing essential supplies to those who need them most, fostering a sense of community and support in the heart of Long Beach.
Help Out at LA Family Housing’s Donation Center
Join in assisting with the efficient operation of their donation center! Help sort and hang clothing, assemble kits, and assist during pick-up times. Work alongside other dedicated volunteers to ensure that donations are organized and ready for distribution to those in need. YOUR IMPACT: Your efforts will help provide essential items to individuals and families in need, ensuring they receive clean, properly fitting clothing and necessary supplies. With your help, they can swiftly sort and distribute donations to our community.
Serve Thanksgiving Meals to Adults Transitioning out of Homelessness in Sylmar
Make it possible for adults transitioning out of homelessness to have their own Thanksgiving celebration. Help serve food, host a friendly bingo game, and hand out gift-cards and prizes to brighten the holiday season for these individuals! YOUR IMPACT: Unfortunately, for many adults experiencing homelessness, this can be a lonely time of year. In addition, the cost of a Thanksgiving meal can be out of reach for many of our participants. By providing a full Thanksgiving meal, along with a fun, community-building activity, you're helping these people create great holiday memories.
Watch Bolsa Chica Conservancy’s Live Animal Feeding
Join the Bolsa Chica Conservancy at their weekly Live Animal Feedings to witness firsthand the feeding behavior of California native animals! If you're looking to get out of the house and learn about local animals, join them in person for their weekly live animal feeding! Here you will be able to learn more about the animals at the Interpretive Center, including snakes, sharks, crabs, and much more! During the feeding, they will cover topics like feeding habits and the general biology and anatomy of reptiles and marine animals! This is a free event but donations are always welcome to help with the cost of caring for and feeding their animals. They hope to see you there! Spaces are very limited due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, so please contact [email protected] if you can no longer attend. *This presentation may also be recorded and live-streamed on their YouTube channel and Facebook Live. Your attendance at this event is your consent for the Bolsa Chica Conservancy to use your image and likeness for use in print, media, and promotional purposes.* This is an observational event, not a volunteer event. ***Please note that the snake feedings involve live mice.***

They cannot do it - without YOU! The age requirement to volunteer in the kitchen is 14 years old. Volunteers under the age of 18 are required to have an adult chaperone with them at all times. The adult chaperone also must register.
Fight Food Insecurity by Supporting Karsh Center’s 17th Annual Big Give
On November 24, 2024, the Karsh Center will once again welcome our community for the 17th Annual Big Give. Through this special program, we will distribute 1,000 Thanksgiving meal kits to our registered guests, impacting over 4,000 individuals in our community and ensuring they experienced the warmth and nourishment of a Thanksgiving meal.The Big Give is impossible without the support of our generous donors, volunteers, and sponsors. Each gift of $100 can help us ensure a family has a full Thanksgiving meal. Please help us support our neighbors experiencing food insecurity!

Volunteer at the Thanksgiving Critter Camp at Helen Woodward Animal Center
Volunteer at the Thanksgiving Critter Camp this November 25-27 and help bring pet responsibility education to young children! This is a unique opportunity for high school students (grades 9-12) who are enthusiastic, reliable, and experienced in working with PreK-6th grade kids. As a Junior Volunteer, you'll assist with preparing materials, supervising activities, managing children's behavior, and supporting the camp instructor with lessons, crafts, and games. While you'll be working around animals, the focus is on engaging with children, so maturity, teamwork, and leadership skills are essential. Volunteer shifts run from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm (with some extended hours) across three days. All new volunteers must attend a mandatory training on November 25, and COVID-19 policies must be followed to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone involved.

Volunteers will provide support at the Union Rescue Mission basement warehouse in DTLA by helping with various projects as needed. Projects include organizing canned food, sweeping, mopping, assisting with receiving deliveries.

This Fall, they are eager to engage the support of our local communities to help serve thousands of individuals and families that have been affected by homelessness to enjoy a festive holiday meal. As we gear up to prepare for Thanksgiving, they are seeking volunteer support to come into our PATH Metro Villas headquarters and help assemble baskets for the unhoused with Fall Food Drive Donations they have received.

Volunteer at Union Station Homeless Services’ Dinner in the Park 2024
For over 50 years, everyone at Union Station Homeless Services has celebrated Thanksgiving with those in need. Dinner in the Park is a beloved holiday tradition that brings the community together over celebratory meals. They have a variety of volunteer shifts available to make Dinner in the Park happen this year! You and your friends, family, organization, or business can help out this year by preparing food, packaging meal boxes, carving turkeys, serving hot meals, and more!
Volunteer at URM Thrift Boutique with Union Rescue Mission
Volunteers will provide support at the Covina Thrift Store by sorting through donations, cleaning & organizing the facility, and other various tasks delegated by the Thrift Store Manager. Volunteers are needed between 11am to 5pm. Partial shifts are welcome. Please check in with management upon arrival and inform them what time you will be leaving. Age requirement: 18 years old and over.
