Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has worked to mobilize resources in the community to alleviate hunger. We will be assembling food packages for over 29,000 families, older adults, and children who face food insecurity in Los Angeles County. (The food packages consist of food items like canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, cereal and other non-perishable food items.) Please refer to volunteer guidelines and dress code on sign-up. Join in assisting with the efficient operation of their donation center! Help sort and hang clothing, assemble kits, and assist during pick-up times. Work alongside other dedicated volunteers to ensure that donations are organized and ready for distribution to those in need. YOUR IMPACT: Your efforts will help provide essential items to individuals and families in need, ensuring they receive clean, properly fitting clothing and necessary supplies. With your help, they can swiftly sort and distribute donations to our community.

As they gear up to prepare for Thanksgiving, they are seeking volunteer support to come into our PATH Metro Villas headquarters and help assemble baskets for the unhoused with Fall Food Drive Donations they have received.

We are supporting the skateboard population, because we found out some are homeless, in foster care, dysfunctional households, group homes, transitional housing. ICCDYF want then to have a happy holiday. We will host a toy giveaway for the skateboarders at Wilson Park. We will have a skateboard competition, with food, prizes and awards. The age is open to 5-25 years old. Donations of toys, can be dropped off at Wilson Park. 123 Rose St, Compton 90221.

Assist with sustainability efforts by collecting compost from the park and delivering it to LA Compost at the LA River Farmers Market or disposing of it in green bins. Plan to arrive at 1:30 pm to pick up the compost (up to 50 lbs) and help reduce waste while giving back to the community.

Make it possible for adults transitioning out of homelessness to have their own Thanksgiving celebration. Help serve food, host a friendly bingo game, and hand out gift-cards and prizes to brighten the holiday season for these individuals! YOUR IMPACT: Unfortunately, for many adults experiencing homelessness, this can be a lonely time of year. In addition, the cost of a Thanksgiving meal can be out of reach for many of our participants. By providing a full Thanksgiving meal, along with a fun, community-building activity, you're helping these people create great holiday memories.

At Thanksgiving we give out hundreds of turkeys and side dishes in Watts so no plate is empty and our community is cared for. The first 200 families (600 total) at three different housing projects (Jordan Downs, Imperial Courts, Nickerson Gardens) receives a turkey and a bag of everything they need for a feast. This way, families can focus on the things that matter instead of wondering if they can afford the meal. The event is promoted in the community. It is first-come, first served at each location. We do not ask for proof of residency, as many people in need are turned away at similar events for not being in government provided housing. This year, for added engagement, we will be hosting Thanksgiving Bingo in Jordan Downs where community members can hang out and win prizes after picking up their turkey and fixings.
