Serve Thanksgiving Meals to Adults Transitioning out of Homelessness in Canoga Park

Make it possible for adults transitioning out of homelessness to have their own Thanksgiving celebration. Help serve food, host a friendly bingo game, and hand out gift-cards and prizes to brighten the holiday season for these individuals! YOUR IMPACT: Unfortunately, for many adults experiencing homelessness, this can be a lonely time of year. In addition, the cost of a Thanksgiving meal can be out of reach for many of our participants. By providing a full Thanksgiving meal, along with a fun, community-building activity, you're helping these people create great holiday memories.

Take Time at Thanksgiving to Support Big Sunday’s 13th Annual Stuffing Event

This year, our goal is to fill 4000 (!) bags full of delicious Thanksgiving food for grateful people. The bags are given away the day before Thanksgiving, so people have them in time for Thanksgiving dinner. We'll be feeding 16,000 people from more than 100 different nonprofits and schools throughout the greater Los Angeles area. And, of course, it will take a village to make it all happen, on the day, and in the weeks leading up to it. The actual event is the day before Thanksgiving and more than 2000 people, of all ages, from all walks of life, will gather to gather to fill the bags, all while enjoying some great bluegrass music, a delicious community breakfast, and, as always, the company of one another. One of our favorite parts of the event is that many people filling the bags are receiving them, too. For everyone, it's a day to give as well as receive.

Deck the Halls at Door of Hope

Create a festive environment for families living in a shelter or homelessness prevention and alumni families by decorating Door of Hope Community Center in the first week of December.

Collect Toys for IDEPSCA’s Dia de Reyes Toy Drive

Our Mujeres en Accion program is planning a "Dia de Reyes" (Toys' Drive) event that will be hosted on Saturday, January 11, 2025 in the Pico Union neighborhood area in which we are planning to have about 50 families and distribute toys to approximately 100 children. We are seeking for monetary donations and/or new toys donations for children from 0-16 years old so we have enough toys that will be distributed with children of low income community members-workers who especially during the winter season have found hard to keep or find a job. At the event we are also planning to provide educational materials which will include: Health & safety and workers' rights, IDEPSCA has a long experience in creating educational materials in spanish and we are planning to provide a tote bag to each participant with educational materials that include: minimum wage, wage theft, know your rights booklet as well as other resources and information. Please donate unwrapped new toys for children from 1-16 years old. You can also donate money that can help us to purchase toys and breakfast for children and their moms the day of the event, you can use this link to donate. Please call/text us to coordinate a drop off or pick up (if you live in the Los Angeles area) at 213-800-2406 or 213-259-6379.
