Covenant House California (CHC) is a non-profit youth shelter that provides sanctuary and support for youth experiencing homelessness, ages 18-24. We believe that no young person deserves to be homeless; that every young person in California deserves shelter, food, clothing, education É and most importantly, to be loved. We are looking for volunteers to pre-make dinner for Thanksgiving. We would need enough food for at least 100 people. We need meals/food options for 5 vegans/vegetarians. The food can be reheated in our kitchen. If available, we are also looking for people to serve the food to our residents. All volunteers need to be at least 25 years or older. We require the volunteers to be older than the demographic that we work with which is 18-24. Please wear close toed shoes and wear comfortable clothing that covers your torso and legs.

Help prepare and serve lunch at Union Rescue Missions Angeles House (South LA)! Angeles House is their new campus that opened in April 2022. Angeles House is the home of about 86 families in South Los Angeles. Help them prepare and serve breakfast meals, to those that are sheltered within their facility. You must be at least 14 years to volunteer in the kitchen. Volunteers under the age of 18 are required to have an adult chaperone present. The chaperone also must be registered.

Join the Bolsa Chica Conservancy at their weekly Live Animal Feedings to witness firsthand the feeding behavior of California native animals! If you're looking to get out of the house and learn about local animals, join them in person for their weekly live animal feeding! Here you will be able to learn more about the animals at the Interpretive Center, including snakes, sharks, crabs, and much more! During the feeding, they will cover topics like feeding habits and the general biology and anatomy of reptiles and marine animals! This is a free event but donations are always welcome to help with the cost of caring for and feeding their animals. They hope to see you there! Spaces are very limited due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, so please contact [email protected] if you can no longer attend. *This presentation may also be recorded and live-streamed on their YouTube channel and Facebook Live. Donate to Ascencia to support their mission of lifting people out of homelessness, one person, one family at a time! Ascencia served over 1,200 people experiencing homelessness every year, and just last year they placed 169 families into permanent supporting housing. Ascencia relies on donations from the community to fund their life-saving programs including street outreach, case management, emergency housing, mental health and wellness services, and more. With a 97% housing retention rate, what they do works, but it works better with your support. Thank you for giving back to those that need it the most this holiday season!

We will be hosting our yearly holiday event for the families in our programs. We provide services to families with children ages 0-5 years old and prenatal mothers. We are in need of toy donations and other items for this age group.
