Help Wrap Books with the Child Care Resource Center

Help Child Care Resource Center - Van Nuys get the holiday season started on the right foot! They've got thousands of books that need to be wrapped and less time than you think to do it all! Child Care Resource Center cultivates child, family, and community well being. With your help, CCRC will provide every child in Head Start a new toy and age appropriate book for the holiday season. Additionally, at our distribution event, children from the community have the opportunity to come to the office to participate in activities and take home a wrapped toy and book. Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Saturdays leading up to the holidays, volunteers will be wrapping and sorting books and toys that will be distributed amongst the community. All materials will be provided. Requirements: Volunteers must be 16 years of year or older and be able to lift up to 30lbs. Please remember to fill out a minor volunteer waiver form if minors (under 18) are attending projects. The form can be found on L.A. Help Host a Christmas Dinner for the Veterans’ Families at U.S.VETS – Inglewood

U.S. VETS - Inglewood hosts a Christmas Dinner for their local veterans in both transitional and permanent housing at their Inglewood site. It includes a Toy Drive to help these veteran's who are father's give gifts to their children during the holiday season. They also are producing a first-ever 'Hoops For Heroes' charity basketball game on Saturday, November 10. It's their biggest community fundraiser of the year and they would love a few items to raffle during our pre-game and halftime. They could use a few raffle items for the basketball charity game on 11/10/18 and 6 volunteers who would like to help with snack bar, crowd control and ticket table.

Join the Self Help Graphics & Art with their Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Self Help Graphics & Art will host its annual Dia de los Muertos celebration at Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez High School. The celebration's participants take part in a public procession where life size Calaveras, personal and family items, are carried to a large Community Altar that honors deceased family members. The procession and traditional blessing kicks off a festive Dia de los Muertos celebration with arts, craft and food vendors, musical performances, face painting, and children's art workshops. Over 7,000 guests enjoy a community gathering that celebrates community, life and death. positions will include general set up and break down, t-shirt/print/beverage sales, acting as ushers, donation hosts, greeters, managers, and entertainment wranglers, altar monitors, stage/performance liaison, Photobooth photographers/donation hosts, face painters, kids corner, Pan de Muerto sales, Vendor Load in and inspection, and volunteer check-in. Throw a Winter Festival for the Childrens Institute Inc.

Winter festival is a family event with all of the Children's Institute Inc. families spread out over all of Los Angeles. This event brings their families together through crafts, food, performances and book drives. their families get to spend a Saturday together in the spirit of the holidays surrounded by love and joy :) they are looking for stocking stuffers for around 1,500 kids that they can give them as they leave the event. Small toys, hand games and things to make you smile that will fit in a stocking :)
