Self Help Graphics & Art will host its annual Dia de los Muertos celebration at Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez High School. The celebration's participants take part in a public procession where life size Calaveras, personal and family items, are carried to a large Community Altar that honors deceased family members. The procession and traditional blessing kicks off a festive Dia de los Muertos celebration with arts, craft and food vendors, musical performances, face painting, and children's art workshops. Over 7,000 guests enjoy a community gathering that celebrates community, life and death. positions will include general set up and break down, t-shirt/print/beverage sales, acting as ushers, donation hosts, greeters, managers, and entertainment wranglers, altar monitors, stage/performance liaison, Photobooth photographers/donation hosts, face painters, kids corner, Pan de Muerto sales, Vendor Load in and inspection, and volunteer check-in. PLEASE NOTE: All Main Celebration volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation leading up to the event. Date/Time TBD.
