Lend a Hand with AHEAD With Horses’ Saturday Volunteer Program #7

Just because it's the holidays you can't forget their 4-legged friends! AHEAD With Horses needs volunteers every Saturday (unless otherwise noted) at their Shadow Hills facility. Volunteers will assist in providing developmental therapy to children with disabilities. Duties include: Leading horses, spotting (walking along side the horse), grooming, cleaning tack, weeding, raking, etc. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and if under 18, an adult must come to sign a liability release form at their first session. Dress code: must wear closed-toe shoes, long pants and a shirt with sleeves (t-shirt is fine; no tank tops). If planning on staying the entire day (which is not mandatory), please bring water and a sack lunch. Questions? Please call Michelle at 818-767-6373.

Donate Gifts to the Special Needs Network, Inc.

During the Christmas holidays, they bring hundreds of families, community partners, and stakeholders together for a holiday celebration. Come out and volunteer with Audobon! Join them in and around their native plant nursery where they propagate plants and maintain habitat restoration sites. Activities include watering, weeding, mulching, berm building and repair, seed collection, processing and sowing, potting, and planting. Learn about native plants and local bird species as you restore important native habitat within more than 17 acres around the center. Put your hands in some soil and bird while you build habitat! They need you, but more importantly, their neighBIRDS need you! Be sure to bring lots of water, sun protection, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty! Celebrate the Season by Protecting the Planet, #3!

Here's a great way to mark the holidays: restore and maintain the Bolsa Chica wetlands! Participants will help this local treasure with invasive plant removal, debris disposal, and/or native plant installation. Please come in closed-toe shoes, as you will be working in off-road terrain! Come prepared with sun protection with a water bottle, sun glasses, sun screen, and/or a hat! they recommend arriving 10 - 15 minutes early to secure parking. Assist in a Weekly Infomation Session with ONEgeneration

Every Sunday volunteers sign in at 7am and out at 1pm to help greet at the entrance gates and offer information about ONEgeneration services, help at the Bagel or Book booths, or assist a Farmers or small business for the day. This event is a walk in position so you can come any Sunday that you are available from 7am to 1pm, no partial shifts. When volunteers sign out at 1pm they will receive a completion letter for their hours if needed. Read Aloud to Children with Reading to Kids

Do you like holiday stories? Reading to Kids organizes monthly reading clubs on the second Saturday of every month at eight downtown Los Angeles elementary schools. The reading clubs run from 9 am - 12 pm. Pairs of volunteer readers read aloud to small groups of students from the elementary school (typically between 4 and 6 children per group) in a fun environment.
