Adopt/Foster a Basset Hound, Volunteer With or Donate to Daphneyland

We suspect that no one loves the holidays more than basset hounds. After all, what time of year has more table scraps? If you're looking to help some very cute dogs over the holidays, check this out: The Basset Rescue Network at DaphneyLand was founded in 2005 and is a group of volunteers who have come together for the rescue of basset hounds and to provide rehabilitation in the form of proper nutrition, supplemental care, veterinary care and behavioral modification to properly socialize the basset hounds in a pack environment. They promote educational programs of nutritional awareness, spaying and neutering of all animals to decrease the number of canines being euthanized in local animal shelters, companion animal care instruction and training, youth leadership programs, and community involvement through awareness campaigns, adoption events and military and family crisis programs. For more information on how to adopt or foster a hound, volunteer at Daphneyland or donate to this worthy cause, please call 661-269-2682 this holiday season!

Support AHEAD with Horses in making their “Forever Home”

2018 is a BIG Year for AHEAD With Horses, which is a non-profit developmental therapeutic vaulting program for children with all types of disabilities in the Los Angeles area! 2018 is their 50th Anniversary! It is also the year where they will finally be moving into a property that they will own all by their selves! Moving into their own place means that they will be able to have the home they always dreamed about. It means there will always be a home for their horses and a place for their kids to feel Empowered. The cost of moving their entire facility, along with all 8 horses and their cat, is a very large amount. The property they purchased is wonderful for their program because it is large and flat. Unfortunately, it does not have water or power yet. Some of their big costs are paying for permits to put water and electricity in also creating driveways, purchasing pipe corral for their horse stalls and new larger arena, a tractor to keep the property maintained, rental trucks to move their large storage units, landscaping to put trees for shade, and much more. All of the donations made will go directly towards creating their new facility so that all of the children will be able to benefit from their developmental therapeutic vaulting services. All donations made will go directly to their "Forever Home" Campaign and raising funds to make their new property into the beautiful home they know it will be. Funds will help pay for costs to put the water and electricity onto the property, paying for pipe corral panels to create stalls and a larger arena for us to provide their therapy, as well as other costs associated with moving.

Donate to Support Divine Mercy Orphanage – The Children at the Border’s Angels to Angels Program

In a world of vitriol and division, live scores of orphaned children in the border region of Tecate. The boys and girls of Divine Mercy Orphanage are professionally cared for by the love and dedication of the Daughters of Divine Mercy and the staff and volunteers. Love is abundant but so is uncertainty, fear and the anxiety of our times. The children could use a lift over the holidays with donations of school supplies, clothing and of course, toys. The staff could use household supplies and hygiene products, as well as funding to complete necessary facility requirements and repairs. You can donate items at the campus of Immaculate Conception School. Also, direct support of funds can be contributed to the McKenna Foundation, Attn: Angels to Angels Project, PO Box 4022, Whittier, CA 90607. Please spread the word, and the love!

Help Bring Baked Goods for the Clients of At The Crossroads

The holidays can be an extra hard time of year when you're a disconnected youth in San Francisco. The season's focus on family time and gift-giving can be very isolating for their clients who might be separated from family or might not have the resources they need to show their appreciation for loved ones. Every year, ATC throws a holiday party for their clients. It is a tradition that their clients and staff look forward to and a very special time to celebrate the amazing youth they work with. They are also looking for folks to help bake soft goods for their holiday party. Items must be individually wrapped, meaning no open platters of goods but rather items are in ziplock bags or saran wrapped. They ask that folks drop off the baked goods by 12/12 at 3pm. Please email volunteer@atthecrossroads.org if you are interested in baking! Please help us raise $20,000 to bring the holidays to over 500 clients and their families. Your support will go a long way towards making the holidays special for their clients:

Provide Gifts for the Children at Kids in Need of Defense

Kids in Need of Defense is a non-profit organization that provides refugee youth an attorney to fight their immigration case in court. Their mission is to provide protection for unaccompanied children who enter the U.S. immigration system alone and ensure that no child appears in immigration without representation. Many of the clients they work with come from low income households who struggle to make ends meet. During the holidays these struggles become even more unbearable, that is why during this holiday season they, with your help, would like to spread some holiday cheer by providing gifts for their clients.
